Just to be clear, BC fired a 2-10 coach and then hired a coach a lot of the BC fan base finds underwhelming just to keep this coach from Uconn? And then just to get a few Uconn recruits to reconsider, they hired Brown.Because this is all about BC trying to kill Uconn football,BC is trying to deliver a death blow to UConn right now. Hiring Addazzio takes away a serious contender for the UConn HC opening once Pasqualoni is fired after 2013. He has CT ties and BC sees the importance of getting back in the CT high school battleground with UConn because they usually land a few of our kids for some God awful unknown reason. Now, hiring away Brown ensures our defense will struggle next year and may result in a few UConn recruits re-opening their recruiting (see: Cory Jasudowich) and reconsider BC if the kid is committed to northeast ball. IF UConn is indeed angling for a B1G invite, it will take a while to get in (AAU invite needed first, likely). BC knows they have 2-3 seasons to try to knock UConn out for good. Fans, especially diehard fans like you HFD, who give up on the university and program(s) are exactly what will knock UConn out. BC (and other northeast schools I'm sure) are hoping that the sleeping giant UConn stays asleep for as long as possible to ensure our long marriage to the NNNNNNBE 3.0.
Is that your real position?
How about that Addazio left TEMPLE for a lot more money and a better league. And Brown left for a league he has familiarity with and for more money.Maybe he is tired of having to be the crutch that the whole team leans on to win games. Maybe he sees nothing is changing at Uconn and he was going to be a free agent next year. Jump now and get in with a group that has at least another 3 to 4 year lifespan and make more money.
One of these seems to make a little more sense than the other.
And Adazzio is still at the bottom of the pay scale for the ACC. If Uconn wants him, they can probably buy him if they are willing to pay.
