Lack of speed has been killing us on both sides of the ball all year. The changing paradigm of college football has teams recruiting speed over size. The AAC is filled with fast spread formation teams. This isn't your father's slow and prodding Big East conference of 15 years ago. Does anyone recognize South Florida anymore? Even in the good years of those smash mouth Edsall teams, UConn struggled against the faster teams in the conference like West Virginia. The whole conference is transforming into the Big 12 style of football and UConn looks slower than ever. Although Temple plays closer to our style of football, they still have a lot more speed then we have at the linebacker, running back and receiver positions. If the school fires Diaco, they better replace him with a MUCH better recruiter or this program will never win again at football.
