Took a quickie down to msg, but am back at work.

Some thoughts:

My brother and I were stuck in the middle of a whole section of WVU fans. The couple next to us were great, but the men (older) behind us were crybabies, complaining about every thing on earth.

It was hard to get a read on the game until the 2nd half.

Rebounding was really, really hurting Uconn for 37 minutes in this one. WVU got offensive boards and denied uconn 2nd chances almost every time it seemed. Yes, Jones was huge, but their other guys were getting their hands on everything it seemed and thus keeping it alive.

The Uconn fans really got into it in the second half and definitely made the place feel awesome, especially after those steals by Bazz and the trey by Lamb in OT.

Overall, SN and JL were great. JL made some nice baskets throughout. What really impressed me was his rebounding late in the game. He got really pissed at Roscoe at one point, I think because Scoe either didn't box out or lost his man. It was late in the game- I'd never seen him like that before. That 3 pointer was vintage JL (think of all the big shots he hit in the tourneys last year).

Bazz was just awesome in this game: threes to get them back in it, hit some key FTs, and those steals were complete game changers.

I thought AO played really well too, and got some great rebounds and blocks near the end of the game. His defense on Jones near the end was good.

AD had an ok game, nothing much to discuss. Did play Jones well near the end, too.

It's amazing that Giffey played as much as he did and has no stats to speak of. He is a stablizer and I think he's important. Doesn't make many mistakes.

RB, even thought his shots weren't falling, is just a great penetrator. With practice, he's gonna be a really good player. He got by his man every single time. Certainly not a great game, but he has so much potential.

RB is really athletic. We did a poor job rebounding, but our on ball defense was VG. I was dying with RB's foulshooting, but he got 1 which made it a 2 pos. game. AD was just there, but WV knew he was. His D on Jones was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bazz, got to love him. JC's hand on the back of his head after he missed the shot in regulation was a father /son moment..beautuful. AO needs hand softener, and JL knew when to defer to bazz.

Bobbygt: perfect observation of Giffey. He is a rock.

Giffey took a charge right before the half. I can't recall the last charge a Uconn player has taken. I think it's been quite a few games. Calhoun immediately took him out.

Giffey's a fundamentals guy, we need him in games that are grind it out half-court defense games. If it's a high scoring up and down the floor thing, he's not going to be of much use.

Bobby,

What was the crowd like? Pro UConn? How loud did it get at the end of the 2nd half when we were climbing back into the game?

He has end-game experience (which counts with this club) and he knows a little something about winning championships. Kid doesn't stop moving offensively or defensively. Capable of getting 10 points when he's on.

He good in my book, and I'm glad we have him to spell players without losing a whole lot.

There were plenty of WVU fans there , but it was all UConn cheering towards the end of the 2nd half and quite loud. UConn fans brought it.

I was listening to the radio coverage and some guys were saying that they think West Virginia is now out of the NCAA's and if UCONN had lost they would have been out but now are definitely in (I think we were in anyway but now it's definite). The announcers didn't think the BE should get 10 teams in. The discussion is Seton Hall, West Virginia, neither or both. Some still question South Florida based on their weak schedule. I don't think the committee should get hung up on numbers but compare them to the at large teams and if it's 9 fine, if 11 fine.

I think West Virginia should get in regardless of today's game. They played tough and are a team that can win some games in the tourney. They are a bad match-up for us because of their toughness and rebounding so I'm thrilled we won today. I think they could do some damage against teams that aren't used to the Big East style of play. Of the three, Seton Hall, South Florida, or West Virginia, I think West Virginia has the best chance to do some damage simply because a lot of teams aren't used to the BE style of play, especially the physical style of West Virginia.

Appreciate it.....it was kinda hard to tell on the television, but glad we represented at MSG well. Against Cuse, it might get a lil crazy especially for a noon game.

In the words of Bart Scott: Can't Wait!!!

When I first got to MSG, I saw a lot of yellow or old gold or whatever they call that color. But the end of the game was well represented by Husky fans. I wish I could go back tomorrow.

He loses his man too much. I like him, but I thnk he's a net negative right now.

WVU's official colors are urine and blue.
