Pretty fun to think about. The numbers of NCs include both NCAA and AIAW championships. 44 total national championships have been won.

The quintet:

• National championships won by UConn: 9
• Combined NCs won by UCLA, Rutgers, Texas, Texas Tech, North Carolina, Purdue, Notre Dame, Maryland, and Texas A&M: 9
• Combined NCs won by Delta State, Old Dominion, and Louisiana Tech: 9
• Combined NCs won by Immaculata, Stanford, Baylor, and USC: 9
• National Championships won by Tennessee: 8
