I was impressed with the business-like attitude from all the players. It was an exhibition game but these women were serious, they played the entire 40 minutes like kids who were in the classroom studying for their final exam. Players were shuffled in and out with very little drop-off in rhythm and effectiveness. Of course, we were playing a division II school, but regardless, the defense was impressive. There were 5 kids out there who could knock down threes and two others on the bench...that is 7 kids who can knock down threes. Geno is going to have a ton of options this year. It is going to be fun watching this team grow. All three freshmen scored in double figures in their FIRST GAME! Has that ever happened before. Moriah will be a great point guard for UConn but she still has a learning curve with regards to actually taking charge of the team that is on the floor. She was looking for the open player, creating with the dribble but she was running the team...that will take time. Tuck is a beast she is tough underneath and she can step out to the perimeter...what a luxury to have in a freshman. TonyC and I met Mr. and Mrs. Stewart and Mr. Stewarts sister tonight...really nice people, easy to see why Breanna is like she is. Breanna is really going to be a special player...but, you all already know that...I just thought I would mention it again because, well, it was her first game and all...lol

I don't know how much you can say when it comes to an exhibition game but I will say this that this team is going to be fun to watch...it is going to be a great time to be a UConn fan.

I get the idea that this game was a pleasant break from the UCONN practices...

Breanna's parents must've been quite proud...all of the freshman looked great, but Breanna is a force of nature...

Despite the score, IUP looked like a really competent team. They played good defense, but couldn't quite match Uconn's speed, skill and depth. Their offense was also impressive. They didn't lose their cool despite intense pressure. They made some nice moves and passes, but every good move and pass ended up with a Husky velcro'd to the offensive player. They used most of their allotted time on each play and this kept Uconn's score down.

There were no freshmen on the court tonight.

Good stuff Charlie. sounds like IUP never gave up even tho they were hopelessly overmatched. This team is gonna be special. I foresee some growing pains - heck, the freshmen can't play like juniors EVERY game, can they? I'm actually most impressed with Jefferson - isn't PG the hardest position to learn at UCONN, and the kid's only a freshman. Speed kills, but Moriah will break more than one set of ankles this year for sure... And most improved player by a mile is Banks. But the entire team was just sensational (granted against lesser competition)...

GONNA SEE IF I CAN STICK SOME CAPS INTO THIS TERRIFIC RECAP:

I was impressed with the business-like attitude from all the players. A GREAT WAY TO PUT IT.....THERE WAS CERTAINLY A SENSE OF "ENJOYMENT" UNDERLYING, BUT THE BUSINESSLIKE SENSE WAS THERE IN SPADES( (LET ME CONTRAST THAT, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WILL GET IT, WITH THE GOVERNMENT-LIKE SENSE WHERE YOU ARE SPENDING SOMEONE ELSE'S (OURS, AS TAX PAYERS) MONEY)).....THEY WERE FOCUSED....INTENT.....DETERMINED....A SENSE THAT THEY WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OUTCOME....A SENSE THAT THEY HAD TO EARN WHAT THEY WANTED TO SPEND. I WOULDNT HAVE THOUGHT OF THISE APT DESCRIPTION THAT CF HAS USED, BUT IT CERTAINLY FITS TO A "T" It was an exhibition game but these women were serious, they played the entire 40 minutes like kids who were in the classroom studying for their final exam. Players were shuffled in and out with very little drop-off in rhythm and effectiveness. I'LL GO SO FAR AS TO SAY NO DROPOFF....AND THAT IS WITHOUT TWO KEY PLAYERS Of course, we were playing a division II school, but regardless, the defense was impressive. VERY, VRY IMPRESSIVE There were 5 kids out there who could knock down threes and two others on the bench...that is 7 kids who can knock down threes. Geno is going to have a ton of options this year. It is going to be fun watching this team grow. All three freshmen scored in double figures in their FIRST GAME! Has that ever happened before. I WOULD BET THAT FARM THAT THIS IS A FIRST. HOPEFULLY HE WHO KNOWS ALL, WHOEVER THAT MIGHT BE, CONTINUES TO LEARN AND MATURE AND WILL AFFIRM THAT SINGULAR PERFORMANCE , AND WILL NOT "BANKS" THEM FOR THEIR DOUBLE FIGURE PERFORMANCE. SURE, CHALLENGE THE LIVIN HELL OUT OF THEM....BUT THAT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT THROWING THEM INTO A FUNK. MUST SAY, I THINK THESE THREE ARE LESS FUNK-PRONE THAN BANKS, BUT AS HAS OFTEN BEEN SAID ABOUT COACHING, PART OF THE JOB IS HANDLING DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES DIFFERENTLY. Moriah will be a great point guard for UConn but she still has a learning curve with regards to actually taking charge of the team that is on the floor. CF, ACTUALLY, I THOUHT AS THE GAME WENT ALONG, SHE LOOKED AMAZINGLY CONFIDENT, POISED, AND TOTALLY UNFAZED BY HAVING THE KEYS TO THIS FERRARI......GENO DID A GREAT JOB OF GUIDING HER UNOBTRUSIVELY FROM THE SIDELINES....TERRIFIC ON THE PART OF BOTH. She was looking for the open player, creating with the dribble but she was running the team SHE SURE AS HELL WAS....WELL SAID...that will take time. Tuck is a beast she is tough underneath and she can step out to the perimeter...what a luxury to have in a freshman. AGAIN THE COMPETITION WASNT QUITE WHAT IS IN STORE, BUT THEY WERE SCRAPPY, NO-QUIT PENNSYLVANIA KIDS WHO KNEW THE GAME, COULD BURY THE THREE AND CONTEST MUCH BIGGER KIDS.....AND TUCK WAS IMMENSE AFTER THE FIRST FEW MINS OF TURNOVERS AND NERVES. IMMENSE. IN A VARIETY OF WAYS....AND PERSONIFIED CF'S BUSINESS-LIKE APPROACH......THE KID WAS USING HER OWN MONEY.

THE ONE WILD CARD WAS CFERRARO (SP?) HISSELF.....FROM A DISTANCE: GROUNDED, SHARP, UNRULY, UNFETTERED, A TRUE AND KNOWLEGEAAABLE FAN OF "OUR GIRLS"....AND OTHERWISE FIT FOR LEADERSHIP ROLES AS WELL. FROM MY SENSE OF HIM AND THE EVALUATIVE SKILLS HE DISPLAYS HERE: BAYLOR GOES DOWN!!!!!

I don't know how much you can say when it comes to an exhibition game but I will say this that this team is going to be fun to watch...it is going to be a great time to be a UConn fan.
CAN WE GET AN "AMEN"
