As mentioned, many wouldn't even consider Stokes (runaway 1) top 5 in last years class as he would be behind AJD, DP, Boozer, Ament, etc. Really flawed class - just because Mingo is ranked 5-6 doesn't mean he's some slam dunk superstar that you can plug in right away as a starter at Uconn.

I've heard everyone say this class is weak but I still haven't heard a clear answer whether it is weak at the top or throughout the entire top 100. For instance are the guys in the 30's like other classes in the 30's or would they be in the 40's last year.

If you listen to the experts they’ll say it’s more the top end talent and not a ton of differentiation between player 2 and 30. Stokes the exception. Have also said good depth to be had, so it would seem smart to fish down the rankings a bit where you get multi year with reasonable expectations. Why a kid like County (who a lot of top programs were on) is smart. Irony is Toure.

I’m gonna be interested to see how Scheyer goes about building a roster for 2026 because recent strategy wouldn’t apply with this class.

Yeah I don’t see a ton of difference between a Toure and Jordan Smith. Smith of course is more polished.

Crowe is pretty much Branden Jennings. The resemblance is actually striking.

I'm all for that. Landrew is underranked at 30 for sure. I'm on game 4 from last hs season and I see a top-15 player. He's gotta work on the passing, but our staff is the best in the NCAA at getting the best playmaking out of someone

Right. Better shot right now, bigger physically, comparable handles/breakdown ability, and the size to be a good defender if he has the mental makeup. I think he’s the best player we’ve recruited this cycle personally.

Nice article on County. I didn't know his father played football with Dave Benedict.

But again:
UConn was looking for one or potentially two commitments in this high school class and is still in the mix for a few, like 6-5 point guard Dylan Mingo and 6-6 wings Qayden Samuels and Colben Landrew.

It’s literally in the article Hooper just posted.

Listed at 6 feet 6, 205 pounds on the Wasatch Academy (Utah) roster, County can attack the rim with his athleticism and also see the game as a playmaker. He averaged 13.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists for the Utah Prospects on the Nike EYBL circuit last spring and summer as he emerged as a top prospect.

He was #2 in his original class but reclassified so late that I don't think recruiting services really gave his new ranking much thought. IIRC he was in the 8-12 range after his reclass, but the services pretty much threw ish at the wall.

Drummond was ranked #1 and #2 in his class. The timing of him enrolling at UConn made the services not bother ranking him but he would've been #2 behind Anthony Davis if they did.

Caron was ranked #4 in his class before being pulled out of the rankings due to questions about his eligibility.

Rudy was ranked #5 in his class.
