His time was done in Boston. The Heat were the best fit. It's not like Larry going to play with Magic. He wasn't even guaranteed to start and Boston has been looking to trade him the last two years. He made the right move.

For Ray's sake let's hope he grabs a title with Miami. Who cares about that team in constipated Boston.

That thread title is an embarassment. Ray is the most successful former Husky and has been an excellent representative of our program. The Celtics had every opportunity to keep him and virtually forced him out the door with the way they treated him. If you need to be angry at someone, try the Celtics ownership.

This post is a embarrassment. Let Ray do what he wants. Danny Ainge only looks out for his own interests and its a two way street....

He's a Judas for going somewhere for less money where he has a better shot of winning a title? Boston sports fans get butthurt over anything.

You get butthurt over Boston fans. Repeatedly. Let it go.

Nomar,

I don't want to get into the whole Boston sports fan psyche thing, but I am curious about one thing. If the Memphis trade had gone through, would you be ok with Ray finishing the season with the Griz and then signing with Miami?

You guys know that I've been Ray's biggest cheerleader...but I am having an AWFUL time with this. I get that he wanted to fire a shot over Ainge's bow, I get that he wanted a 3 year contract instead of 2, I get that he would like another ring before he retires, but what I cannot get my mind around no matter how hard I try, is the fact that Celtics fans will BOO him when the Heat play in Boston. Why would you want to end your career on that kind of note? I would've supported him if he had gone ANYWHERE besides Miami...especially after the playoff series. The whole thing is just heartbreaking...

If you were a bobcats fan would you turn on Kemba too if he left in a couple of years? It would only be common sense, just like Ray's decision here.

Fwiw, I'm a Knick fan first and a UConn fan second. I really have no problem with Ray, it's all in good fun.

I'm generally a Boston fan, but jesus, there's a world outside of Boston. His career is probably going to go out in a 4-1 series win over Boston in the first or second round of the playoffs, followed by a finals appearance and another potential ring or two. Add the fact that he'll have a much more defined role, and will get open shots much more often. Yeah, that freakin sucks for Ray.

Funny you should say that...with the UCONN backcourt the Cats will have this season, they may have to be my new favorite team! It's different for Kemba...his career is just beginning. Not sure why Ray would want to end his career on such a sour note.

The ironic thing is these fans were saying (paraphrasing): "we offered you more money, but you sold out".

You are a Knick fan first and then a UConn fan? That is worst than your thread title.

Bobcats have fans? I don't imagine even those that watch them are fans.
