"Bulls women’s coach Jose Fernandez, whose team now shapes up as the AAC’s premier program with the Huskies’ departure, said Wednesday he and UConn coach Geno Auriemma already have discussed continuing the Bulls-Huskies series on a home-and-home basis."

Yeah, no.

USF is different. If Geno gets a recruit from the Houston area then maybe as a homecoming game.
Agreed. OOC games will be at a premium since we'll only have I think 9 or 10 instead of the 13 or 14 we have now. The ND game is a given. A homecoming game is hopefully still a given. There are a couple other annual games on our OOC slate, so there's really only going to be maybe a half dozen openings for at large OOC games. Sorry Houston you don't make the cut.

I'd rather see us play Texas or Baylor or aTm if we are going to that state for a game.

USF would essentially take DePaul's place on the UConn women's basketball out of conference schedule. A solid lower level top 25 team that has a coach who is one of Geno's buddy's in the game. Can't see Houston as being a regular part of the scheduling mix unless they continue to show improvement.

Houston is a hotbed for High School Women's BB. It wouldn't be a bad decision to play Houston on an annual basis for recruiting purposes. Geno may not get many players from Texas but he did get Moriah and Lexie Gordon. Can't rely on Baylor scheduling UConn on an annual basis.

Houston coach Ron Hughley has sought out the better opponents to improve his program and really is an admirer of Geno as a person and a coach! So he doesn't want to duck anyone good and IMHO Geno admires Him for his philosophy! It can't hurt to play Houston, TX, Baylor, maybe TX A&M, (2 in TX, 2 in CT) for recruiting purposes! Remember Kim Mulkey ducked CT when we were really strong! Hughley not whimping out!

There's just not going to be any room in the schedule for throwaway games unless you are willing to give up the homecoming games for our seniors or our annual big games against top ten opponents. The Big East schedule leaves us with a lot less out of conference schedule flexibility.

Houston is a waste of time. If they were going to play Houston, they should schedule it like a transition game as the first game of the season just to warm up. UConn playing Baylor or Texas is much more influential to recruiting in Texas than playing Houston. They should get Oregon, Gonzaga, or Maryland on the schedule. The whole point of leaving the AAC is getting a little more competitive and reducing travel within the Big East. Why go all the way to Texas to play a mediocre team? If you are going to travel, make it worth your while and play teams that are going to be competitive. Jose seems to bring his team to the bottom of the top 25 and a Florida trip is nice in the middle of cold weather.

You could do Houston as a regional tune up before a big game similar to the way they will go play Pacific before Stanford. When they visit Waco they could play Houston a couple days before, so the team doesn't have to fly all the way to Dallas and then back.

Good that USF will continue to be an opponent. I remember when certain other teams were ducking us, and Jose's comment was that you will never slay the dragon if you give up on the quest. When it happens (and I believe it will eventually), I'll be extremely happy for him.

Especially nice for us snowbirds and for the many UConn fans in Florida. We go to the USF game every year and the Sundome (or whatever it's called now) is almost solid blue.
