What if?.......................................
IF UConn had not lost to Stanford by 2 points in overtime 91 games ago, they would be riding an unprecedented 138 game win streak.
They had won 47 up to that point. A win that night would have been win #48 + the 90 since then = 138.
138 wins in a row - Think about that for a moment. Think about all the Bit**ing, crowing and complaining that would be echoing throughout WCBB if UConn were currently riding a 138 game win streak. Complaining about how bad it is for the game, and how Geno and his staff should be embarrassed,
crushing one helpless opponent after another. UConn was only one more made free throw or field goal in regulation from this being a reality.
One possible solution (and one we'd all like to see) for that would be to move the UConn men & women's basketball programs to a more competitive conference like the ACC or SEC, supposedly the two best conferences in D-1 college basketball. That might slow them down a bit. I doubt it. The only difference is their conference games would be more competitive, the end result would remain the same.
We know that can't/won't happen. Just imagine all of the national media attention the program would garner daily during the season. Speculation would run rampant with every game, wondering if tonight is the night UConn's streak will be snapped, or how much longer will their domination will continue.
