Has anyone seen it yet? Going this week. 95% of the people who I've talked to that have seen it said it was incredible. The Dark Knight is one of my favorite movies of all time, and Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker was of GOAT caliber. Really excited to see this one, but know that I can't...

I think it's one of the worst movies ever made. The story is so empty, a gratuitous portrait of man so pathetic and unredeeming that you don't care about his decent into violence. It's like something a serial killer would make about himself. The dialog is also horrible. DeNiro's performance is so flat and on the nose that it's unbelievable.

If not branded by the Batman franchise and riding the coattails of previous performances by other actors, no one would see it or care. Phoenix plays him as if the worst parts of his Gladiator character imitating Heath Ledger while covered in feces. His acclaim for the performace can be directly at his willingness to "go there".

It's a pathetic portrayal of incel lore.

I don't generally hate movies, I hated this. It's not entertaining at all.

Saw this last night. Very different from what I was expecting. Very well done. Beautifully shot and acted. Great score, too. Phoenix will definitely and deservedly be in the running for Best Actor.
