Great guy and made 2 historic hires as well as brought us the Big East. I just never liked his quick kicks on 3rd downs. Drove me nuts.

Of note is that he did turn down Bill Belichick for head coach in 1983 in favor of Tom Jackson.

Ironically, hung up the whistle for football after having had to coach George Deleone as a player at UCONN for four years. Just a weird correlation that occurred to me just now. LOL.
