Two fascinating statements the one by Geno with important insights into his psyche and methodology of coaching.
I don't think he ever specifically mentioned that the team gave up in practice; that's new to my ears or that he questioned if his expectations had to be toned down to save the team, in a sense by not putting an impossible burden on them...really fascinating, a real insight into the issues he faced this season.

As well, I am a little concerned about Bria's last three words..."when we need to." Hopefully, just an just an unfortunate figure of speech, but just as likely a deeper insight into the kind of sloughing off that got us into trouble with St. Johns, for example, in the first place.

IMO, you might be reading too much into it. I read "when we need to" to mean in tight games or in closing out games. That had been a point of emphasis for the team heading into the BEast tourney.

I like Bria Hartley's reference to getting redemption.... Earlier last week I labeled Tuesday night "Redemption Tuesday"...and I said after borrowing a phrase from prior Husky Tamika Williams that winning the NCAA championship would be pure "Jubilation"

Come Monday night we can start figuring the odds in earnest and, no matter how hard we figure and ruminate about it, most of us will be wrong. Jews and Christians alike find in the scriptures that vengeance and therefore revenge is to be left to the Divine and that people are to focus more on setting their own houses right. Encouraging acts of revenge in athletics is no healthier an attitdue than in life more broudly. Overcoming failure, setbacks and obstacles is in contrast a positive.

Field General Mongomery may have been small in stature, but the players certainly listened to her. A pretty fair player too: Two-time AA, Lieberman Award, Pomeroy Award.

Yeah, getting the #1 recruit in consecutive years worked out pretty well. Let's get that to 3 years and then 4 years.
