Chief- now is your chance.
Lol I read though that going yep, sure, no problem, got that... until they got two years experience coaching Men's D1 basketball and then I thought "I'm out."

Anyone know who it is?

These postings are typically written to the candidate's qualifications. Webster has been at VT for 4 years and played college basketball, so hoping it's him

I read the minimym 2 years "coaching" experience vs preferred 4 years on a staff as potentially referring to KFree. Surprised they worded it that way.

Or KFree was a coach for 2 years exactly I believe...

Yeah when I saw the 2 years my mind went to KFree too until I saw the 4 years preferred. But that might be it

They're going to hire someone with the preferred qualifications, not the minimum. This certainly points in the direction of Webster.

What I was saying (and worded poorly) is that KFree DOES meet the preferred qualifications. It doesn't say 4 years as a coach. It says "member of a staff"... which KFree has been for over 4 years.

That's a good point. Could see this going either way. Hurley has shown great judgment when it comes to selecting both players and coaches, so if he goes with K-Free then I have faith that he sees real potential there as a coach.

Plus this “including a demonstrated understanding of team travel, schedule and budget;” could refer to his time spent as Director of BB Operations.

I'm all in on Hurley and he's not going to water down his product. If he sees KFree as his guy, that's a shoot the moon situation.

That whole paragraph fits for him.

From his PSU Bio:
A member of the staffs for UConn’s 2014 NCAA Championship and 2016 American Athletic Conference title, the Springfield, Massachusetts, native held responsibilities for UConn’s basketball operations, including NCAA compliance, travel and practice schedules. Freeman also was the liaison between the program, campus administration and campus community as well as the director of basketball camps.

From the listing:
experience in overall basketball operations at the collegiate level, including a demonstrated understanding of team travel, schedule and budget; and involvement in student-athlete community service activities

If we hire Freeman, we're hiring a big man coach from a tournament-caliber Big Ten school in our recruiting footprint with extensive east coast ties and a long history with the program. We could do much, much worse than Kevin Freeman.

There's no evidence he can recruit the east coast effectively. And we sorta have the east coast on lock already.

The hate here on freeman is weird . If Danny thinks highly enough of him to give him the job that’s good enough for me .

I wonder if other schools rank on assistant coaching hires as much as we seem to.

Any info @NJHoops

I imagine that people will like the hire, except for the 10 or so percent that feel the need to complain about everything. But beyond that, it’s a waste of my time to have to have my posts approved before they post and to not be able to have a conversation in real time. The information will come out, as it always does, and the choice reflects what this program wants to value, on and off the court.

Posts approved?!? Didn’t know you were on BY Post Probation. As always, thanks for the info!
