Jim Mora’s new staff coming together…

Does anyone know who left that created these openings?
 
I love the mora hire and what it has done in terms of a shot in the arm. But are we really suggesting that anyone could’ve gone to bama and won 6 nattys and countless SEC championships? And if the argument is that he had unlimited funding (and he does), see Texas, fsu, Miami, Nebraska and countless other programs who throw money at problems thinking it’ll fix everything.

Again, couldn’t be happier to see smiling Jim leading us back. Let’s focus on a return to a relevance and not get caught up in delusions of grandeur.
Might take a few years, but with respect to grandeur, if Mora can recruit even half as good as Saban did up to winning his first NC, then I firmly believe Boston College will be playing 2nd fiddle in New England.

I don't even think he needs to recruit THAT good to be make BC look bad. All Mora has to do is put a competitive team on the field consistently and we can pretty much out recruit BC because of how bad BC is.

We have to be better than BC. We have to beat BC on the field for that to happen.

They definitely out recruited UConn in state, under Edsall, Disco and PP. They got that big all everything defensive lineman from New Canaan, and the kid from New London, and a couple others. Sorry, can’t remember their names right now.

New Canaan was Zach Allen and New London was AJ Dillon, though Dillon went to Lawrence Academy in Mass and was originally committed to Michigan. If my memory is correct, Dillon only went to NLHS his freshman year of high school.

Don’t forget the two kids from Fairfield Prep too. Palazollo and can’t remember the other kids name. Also Backe from Fairfield. These kids wouldn’t of played for Edsall or Disco in a million years, although I seem to recall Allen or Dillon taking an unofficial to Storrs.

Dillon’s roots are in New London, his family still lives there, and IIRC he was born there.

Coach Diabate certainly has some talent to work with this year. This is a strong area on our roster. Love Carter and Brewton at RB so Coach Barthel must be excited to get going and Mickey will be helping it all get to another level on offense. Congrats to all for being recognized.
 

Recruiting Assistant (Specialist)

JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut is accepting applications and nominations for the full-time position of Recruiting Assistant. Responsibilities include: assist the Director of Player Personnel in the overall evaluation of prospects; provide support for practice and game preparation, including attending meetings related to coaching activities which include game analysis and review of game film; assist, as needed, with data collection including the tracking of team performance statistics during competitions and practice sessions; assist the General Manager and Director of Player Personnel with communication efforts with prospective student-athletes and their families, specifically offensive prospects; prepare film on prospective student-athletes and clip it to highlight abilities/skills that coaches will then use to make an evaluation; serve as the initial evaluator of offensive prospects for high school, junior college, and transfer portal; and other program duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach and the General Manager for Football.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required; knowledge of the correct application of NCAA regulations; strong commitment to the academic goals of the University; and excellent organizational, communication, and public relations skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree; experience playing and or working with a Division I football or NFL program; proficiency in Microsoft suite; previous collegiate playing experience; and possesses coaching and student-athlete development philosophies consistent with that of the Division of Athletics and its football program.

Part of me likes that he's being recognized, but reality is I wish he would remain our undiscovered gem.
Yeah it's bitter sweet, but if he turns the offense around and we get a solid 2-3 years from him before he gets a HC offer, I think that we will be in an infinitely better place than we were when he came in. If the offense looks anything like Dunn where it actually was able to score and move the ball then this team is going places.
 
The last time we had a "rising star" as our offensive coordinator (Joe Moorhead) we had our best three year stretch as a D1 team.

Shane Day also did very well in his brief stint as offensive coordinator (currently QB coach and passing coordinator for the high flying Chargers)

In all fairness...our last rising star offensive coordinator was Rhett Lashlee. And actually Dunn after him did well for himself. He was hired away to be the Jets TE coach. Unfortunately for him, Adam Gase was the head coach.

But...I would say Lashlee was the last rising star OC...and that didn't go well.
