I don't care if they just wheel out a cardboard cutout of his image and stick it on the bench but he needs to be on the sideline in some capacity Saturday against PITT. Blaney really seems to have little to no game day coaching ability and rarely makes any tweaks that give us a spark. It seems evident that his lack of interest in being a head coach is starting to trickle down to the team. Would be nice to have an assistant that is chomping at the bit for this type of opportunity and shows some fire out there but we don;t. Having watched a 1,000 Calhoun coached games over the years like the rest of the boneyard I think 90% of us could coach a "calhoun" style game, i.e, know exactly when to call a TO, know when to yank a player. I just don't get why Blaney after all these years just doesn't have that same feel. Since he doesn't, going forward we may need to consider taking extra measures to keep Calhoun healthy. I suggest we put Calhoun on the "Roger Clemens" plan where he only needs to coach home games and we keep him rested for the NCAA's and an occassional Big Road game. I keep thinking of that little robot on Battlestar Galactica that carried the smarter robot around on his neck. I have to imagine we must have some way to video conference Calhoun's image and Ollie can just carry him around for advice.
