Can't wait to start seeing Omar practice in person! Never knew he was that big a dude, thought he was more of a 6'4 180 kind of guy. Not to mention he's apparently consistently been the team's best shooter.

This is Jim Calhoun talking. If JC says Omar is 6'6'' 200, then he is 6'4'' 180.

I love summer press calhoun. always a good read. Sounds like Omar is doing well... interesting Dyson line........(yes dyson suxs)

I heard he was also the best player on our 1999 National Championship team.

I recently ran into Jerome and quite frankly I agree with Coach's comments. With some added maturity Jerome wishes he had done some things differently on and off the court. A couple of years out, I think guys figure out who gave them straight talk and who were enablers to things in hindsight that they wish they had made different choices about. He sees what a focus on game prep has done for Ray Allen. But as Coach says Jerome needs to seize the current day and make the right choices going forward be it in getting his degree or with basketball.

I also think while Jerome always loved to play ball he probably could have used a few less summer league type games and more individual work/practice on certain parts of his game. .....but that's water over the game.

We lost Kemba (Walker) and Charles (Okwandu), we lost the whole attitude we had the year before. It wasn't a bad attitude (last season), it wasn't that we weren't hungry anymore. But we turned to ourselves a little bit. That was obvious at the end of the season, and from some of the things that happened after the season was over."

that says a lot right there

I thought that quote was the most interesting part to the piece as well:
"Jerome (Dyson) came back and spent a couple of days with me. He was talking about what he did or didn't do when he was here. I told him, 'It doesn't make a difference. It's what you do today that matters.'"
It's classic Calhoun, still the teacher.

Thanks for the link Hooper.
