2026 Recruiting: Jerzy Robinson

Has anyone else heard that Jerzy is announcing her commitment tonight while at the South Carolina/USC game? Supposedly she will be there with Wynn...

As a Gamecock I like how that sounds but it could be a baseless rumor going around.
Wynn is there with AB. Hopefully, they came alone

With both Jerzy and Addison being players of interest for UConn, my ears perk up when any peripheral team has insight or comments.

As pertains to Jerzy, I read on VolNation by a poster that she (Jerzy) has been a top recruit since her freshman year in HS and that her skills and size back then dominated over her peer class mates but these last 2 years her class mates have caught up on the size/strength and the skills and that her ranking of #5 is giving too much credence to her early high ranking. I immediately thought of Amari DeBerry who was #1 at one point (Soph year?) but slipped to #15 by the end of her senior year. They are clearly two different positions but the similarities that an "early developer" has an edge applies. I am NOT an expert nor even a "seasoned" evaluator of talent but as I stated above, I was a bit disappointed in her U19 appearances so the comments on VolNation resonated with me, I am not saying they are right, only that they do seem plausible. I put that out there for the likes of the more knowledgeable posters like @Sluconn Husky to advise me on their perspective. Again, I trust Geno and staff more so than my own eyes or anyone else's but this is a forum for discussion so I am curious.

That said, within the "program walls" I have heard that Geno expects one more player from the 2026 class to sign with UConn. Who is that exactly, is unknown but it seems to me to be down to JR or AB....

1) My personal view is that this VolNation comment may be fairly accurate.
2) I haven't been impressed with her international performances either but I also admittedly have high standards and preferences so I of course defer to Auriemma's opinion. I'll just say her recruitment for UConn isn't that important to me. Whatever.
3) Whoever that 'one more player' may be, I have no idea but I've doubted from very early on that it's either one of Robinson or Bjorn. And it may very well be a spring (regular period) signing (and possibly an international) because Auriemma usually waits to comment on signings until they're all in and he already commented on Vukosa.

He can't comment until they sign

I tend to agree with the comments on Jerzy who probably overpowered more people in her earlier years. In general a slipping rating over time is a red flag, and a rising one is a very good sign. I suspect a players actual performance relative to others changes before it is generally reflected in rating changes. DeBerry was a good example, and if I remember right Jenica Lewis was the next greatest thing when she was younger but then dropped into the 20's or so.

That's my point, he already commented on Vukosa who is signed. So he may be all done until spring.
Jersey may be done til Spring too. I thought we would see more late signings this year due ti NIL. I have been proven wrong on that, but Jersey might be the one who doesn't sign early though that hasn't been the M.O. of her agent.

I agree that she might be a late signee, I just don’t think it will be with UConn.

Not just NIL but also the portal/transfers - why commit to an 'on paper' team for 2026 that may change drastically in April with players transferring in and out (and coaches moving as well. Yes, you guarantee a place, but the environment may change dramatically.

I agree on player development being uneven and some young stars never develop, but no development is a straight line, and development in college continues. International play isn't necessarily a good barometer either - short training with new coaches and teammates and systems, playing with different rules and refs. The basic talent is there, but the college situation will be as important as the current talent. And do we really believe that any rankings are that accurate except for a few exceptional players? Most years a #5 ranking versus a #15 ranking are pretty meaningless.
