UConn softball has been in decline for some time now. No problem with getting rid of the current coach, but this is another program where the new athletic facility will help. However, what UConn softball needs is the equivalent of a Jim Penders in that sport. But part of the appeal of Penders is that he sends players into the pros in a high profile sport, which is not part of the equation in softball.
