This hasn’t been posted yet but UConn is 36, while other Big East members include Villanova at 2, Creighton at 9, Seton Hall at 28, and AAC teams include Houston at 19 and Memphis at 32. Baylor is 1 and I see a lot of mid major teams other than Gonzaga, the second highest being Richmond at 14. Thoughts on this? Jeff Goodman's Preseason Top 50 for 2020-21 - Stadium

Can’t believe people care what this clown thinks .

I'll say this once, if Villanova is #2, then we are #1. That is all.

He is way overrating a bunch of big 10 teams.

Nah, that would be Dan Dakich. Goodman has the face of a troll and I used to despise him but he seems to be a big fan of Hurley & the direction the program is headed.
Just because he likes dan hurley doesn’t mean he isn’t an ass.

Not a big deal but I wonder why he doesn't have Sanogo ranked? He has Jackson at #51 but nothing next to Sanogo. I wonder whose rankings he used. Below are Sanogo's rankings that I've seen.

83 - Rivals
78 - 247Sports
95 - 247Sports composite
58 -ESPN

I never got the feeling Goodman was as much of a UConn hater that everyone thought. He was very pro Shabazz back in 2014, and he said a couple years back that selfishly, he wants UConn to be good again because he would be able to go and cover a top 25 team without having to get on a plane since he lives in Mass.

When do we get kenpom action. I looked earlier this week and it was as of last season. Do we need to wait for a season to start to get action there?

He was a Calhoun hater. He didn't like how Calhoun treated him so he took it out on the Huskies. Since Calhoun left he hasn't been as harsh about UConn.

Jeff is a great guy, I used to work with him a while back. He’s not biased against UConn, he actually admires Dan Hurley and thinks he’s one of the better coaches in the game.

We might have a T25 roster this year, but we have a lot to prove before we get there.

As for the B1G teams - they are consistently overrated each year. People seem to forget that they haven’t won a national title since pre-9/11. Or in other words, they haven’t won a national title in the 21st century.

Just curious, did he have a specific incident with Calhoun? I know Jeff Jacobs had a run in with Calhoun but they since buried the hatchet, but I was just wondering if there was anything specific with Goodman for him to be anti Calhoun.

He usually waits unil the preseason poll comes out I think.

You could justify a wide, wide range of preseason rankings for UConn just based on returning players, before even getting into how much incoming players will help.

1. What do we get out of the Center position. Was Whalley's end of season performance an aberration or what we're getting going forward? If the former, can a leaner Carlton go back to how he finished his Soph year and improve on that? And if we're thin at the 4, can they play together effectively?

2. Tyler Polley almost certainly will play this year, but does he have full confidence in the knee? And if so, is he the player we saw in his last game, or just a spot up 3 specialist who has to fight for minutes with Bouk playing the 3 for large portions of the game.

3. What of Akok? I still doubt he can be the athlete he was the first half of last year, but even if he is the undeniable truth is the team played better without him than it did with him because the offense we got with a smaller lineup more than offset the loss of Akok's defense.

And that's even before getting into whether Hurley has made the right bet on Cole and how much Springs and the true frosh give us. So rank us 15 or rank us 50 -- no reason to get upset about it. More question marks than usual about how many good pieces we have and how well they will fit together. I just hope there is a season and we get to see.

Not necessarily a fan of either but I think Goodman has Bells Palsy in all seriousness.
Edit: please forgive the wet blanket with this

Iowa will never last. Not enough depth, but they can shoot it.

UConn > Villanova.
Villanova is 2.
Therefore UConn is by definition < 2.
The only whole number < 2 is 1.
Checkmate, atheists.

This is the way. Depending on health and improvement, and especially on playing a season, this team is a monster.

EDIT: for those without Twitter, UConn is at 32

That’s a good starting point for a young team with a lot of question marks, top 25 potential and we’ll be there in time but a few bases to cover first
