JC would have put his foot in Donato's asspipe

Like having Casper coaching.

Oh, so you can take a shot at Blaney for not perking up about bad reffing, but if someone says bad reffing, you're a contrarian?

Has nothing to do with George getting on the refs. His whole sideline demeanor is too reserved.

To combine his thoughts from a couple of threads and translate them - Blaney was too quiet in not commenting about the fine officiating.

Calhoun would have lit a bonfire using Donato as kindling.

He is a 74 year old assistant coach, and he is an excellent one at that. I can't blame him for being thrust into a position he should not be in. Doris made a GREAT point; if Ollie is the heir apparent, why is he not coaching this team? If he is not ready...what is the harm?

JC's call.

George has one game left, please

Blaney only made one bad decision (aside from not getting on the refs more) and that was playing Olander with Wolf. That was just beyond a bad call that was horrendous.

I had to walk out the room when that happened. AO and AD were getting beat down the floor, then he decides to put in the two slowest bigs on the team at the same time together, one who doesn't even play, unbelievable. Who cares if Roscoe has 2 fouls, its not like he's a 30mpg player, leave him in there.

I thought I was dreaming. Wolf took 3 shots, at least 2 were jumpers. I was baffled by that.

To be fair to Blaney it was only 2 minutes and 33 seconds of Wolf and Olander, before he went back to Smith, but that was a killer 2 minutes and 33 seconds where UConn went down another 5-7 points.

This is one of those few times where I wonder if the stripes had money on Marquette.

The turning point was that bullshit call out of bounds off of Oriakhi when it cleary hit off of Crowder, then he hit a 3 after they in bounded it. And, of course, late when DJO shoved Shabazz to the floor yet Napier was called for the foul.

A couple times coming back from commercial timeouts the announcers mentioned that Blaney had been really laying into the refs. At one point they said he almost picked up a technical. Never actually saw him giving the refs a hard time, so who knows, but at least it sounds like he was registering some complaint.

Would have loved to see Blaney get himself tossed after the BS moving screen call that wiped out Boatwright's 3, though -- embarrass the officials, fire the crowd up, and give Ollie a few minutes with the clipboard.

You don't just "lay into refs". Every coach lays into a ref during a game. You have to get a T. You have to go nuts and let hte officials think you're nuts. You have to let the refs know you'll sacrifice points to make a point. You have to show the team you have their back. You have to throw red meat to the angry crowd. And you have to let the TV commentators explain that Team A thinks they are getting rammed up the you-know-what as Team B is hitting free throws with no one around them.
You don't just lay into the refs when you're getting hosed. You get a T. Period. End of Discussion. Jimmy would have gotten thrown out by the end of the game and it would have been worth it.

Coming from somebody who was at the game, Blaney did a pretty good job of getting on the refs. I made it a point to watch his reaction to some of the terrible calls and believe me he was not happy and showed his frustration. I thought at one point right before the Boatright technical that Blaney was going to try and get one. After that i think he made sure not to get a T because he realized that Marquette can blow it open with 2 shots and the ball.

Okay, so refs don't decide the outcome of a game. So maybe Marquette wins anyway. But that series of calls by Donato when UConn was back to within 5 basically took away any chance of UConn coming back all the way. My seats are low, side-court, but toward the end where those awful calls took place. I think Calhoun goes ballistic on Donato on the OB call. As for what led to RB getting T'd up, I can only imagine that he wa woofing about being blasted out of mid air on the perimeter with no foul being called. although the play wound up resulting in a dunk by AO. There were 3 MU fans in front of me and they agreed that UConn was blown by those calls, including that bad foul call on SN that happened tight in front of me.

That being said, you can lay this loss on may factors, including MU being better than us, but certainly including the awful stretch of really bad shots that included AD's 17 footer. There were 4-5 trips in a row with just horrible shot decisions. A win was definitely not out of the question.

Yes this was just a horrible coaching move. I mean if you don't want to put RS back in at least put in DD or NG as they can keep up with Maruette's bigs(I mean midgets). That call totally baffled me. Also, what made it worst was that Wolfe was taking fadeaway jumpers. LOL.

He was woofing and posturing at Todd Mayo when Marq had called timeout and were going back to their benches.

I was sitting in one of the last seats in the building, and even I was shocked when they missed the kicked ball on Crowder and then the ball off Marquette with under five minutes to play. The crowd was just absolutely shocked when they rewarded the ball to Marquette.

Yes, but it was right after that sequence.
