1986-1987. College basketball had three great Reggie's- Reggie Lewis, Reggie Miller and Reggie Williams. All three about the same size and all three were about 6'7" 190 lbs and could shoot and score from anywhere. Loved watching all three of them.

I must have missed those type drives from Ray Allen. He was not as skilled with the ball as Ross appears to be and was not as strong in college as Ross has become. Ray was more about finesse and skill with his outside shots.
Yeah, Ray was OK.

Amazing to say the least! Incredible to think that the best deep shooter of all time could also absolutely dominate above the rim like he did in a big boy, physical conference.
Ray, although known as one of the best college and pro deep shooters, he was pretty good at taking it to the basket.

I'll never forget that double clutch hang in the air layup drive that rattled around the rim and fell in at the buzzer to beat Georgetown in the BET championship game. One of UConn's all time defing moments for the program.

With that said, Jayden looks very different than Ray Allen, other than what appears to be some very good three-point shooting. Comparing him to long armed 6-6 to 6-7 wings who can stroke it from deep and can drive it to the basket finishing with two long strides to get there is more of fit. Oh, and that spin and step back J that almost went down was eye popping. I hope we get to see more of those if he can convert them at a consistent rate.

Again not saying he's going to turn into one of these dynamic players (Kobe & Lewis come to mind) who have similar height, build and game, but his all around game looks similar. Let's see if he can do what he did against UNH against BE and top tier teams.

I'm hopeful.

Ray could go to the basket I recall one play where he stayed in the air until everyone came down and by the time he hit the floor again we were Big East champions. I own the like but meant to hit reply……

The first time I really noticed Ray was very early in his freshman year at Virginia (the dunk in question is in one of the highlight clips on this thread). My reaction was HOLY S#!t. He exploded to the hoop like nobody we ever had at that point. It took him much of his freshman year to become consistent from three (was hot or cold), and it wasn't until early in his sophomore year that he became special from three. Against UCLA in the tournament he was unconscious.

I think we can all agree that the sky is the limit for Ross. I loved him last season, but as others have stated, the Roster was stacked last year. Sometimes it's good for these kids to spend some time on the bench and see how to conduct themselves. High School to College is a big change for these guys and to think that they can step foot on campus and have it all figured out is unrealistic. I think letting these young men, develop and to figure it out is a good thing. Everyone can't be Steph Castle. He was kind of a freak of nature.
I believe he will go down as the greatest player in history

Gives me a Reggie combo vibe after one game against New Hampshire. I’m feeling the moxy of Reggie Jackson, the defense of Reggie White and the full court speed of Reggie Bush, Tre Reggie. And I bet he loves some good reggae. I could sense all this after 23 minutes against a low major.

Ray Allen freshman and sophomore year had some serious hops and drove the lane a decent amount. Remember those dunks and calf muscles?

Junior year and NBA he was much perimeter oriented.
He dunked on everyone as a Buck and Supersonic. It's weird how people only seem to remember him as a Celtic and Heat player.

You have a specific recollection of his calf muscles?

It's because the Bucks and Supersonics were not on national TV a whole lot during the regular season while the Celtics and Heat were.
