I covered the Niagara at Sacred Heart game last afternoon.

What a finish! Sacred Heart ended the game on a 3.5 minute 14-0 run with a game-tying and-one w/ two seconds to go that brought Anquan Hill to the line, who sunk the winning foul shot.

I wasn’t in the locker room after the game, but the vibe in the coach’s offices/player lounge was a huge party.

After injury woes were a big cause for a slow start, Sacred Heart has now won four straight.
Just wrapped up my post-game and midseason review of Sacred Heart, with a handful of quotes from HC Anthony Latina:

bcu managed to snatch another defeat from ND. It's so bad over at bc interruption they barely even discuss basketball anymore. The ACC really deserves to be relegated given how badly they've handled CR

Providence just needs to improve their offense a smidge (currently 27th, 1 AdjPt/100 from being 21st), then work on cleaning up their defense and they have as good a chance as those teams for being crowned National Champs this year!

You have to imagine that one of those "Bubble Out" teams in the BE will make it in.

So Providence doesn't even have as good of a chance as anyone?
I guess in this case Providence may not have as good a chance as anyone.

I also believe that some on this board may not realize those outside of the BE may not hold some of the conference members' accomplishments in as high a regard as some on the inside do.

Zona -2.5 at BYU tomorrow. Would love a cougar win for a few reasons:
1) we could be ranked #1 the following week
2) a BYU win good for our metrics
3) increases our odds of #1 overall seed
4) ruffruff might jump on yet another bandwagon

Waiting for Nelsonmuntz response.

From a metrics standpoint, doesn't really matter. Played them both once, neither win or loss is going to marginally improve or be hurt by the result.

Arizona losing gives us a chance to move up to #1 in AP poll, so probably BYU.
Rolling into MSG #1 would be fun.

Miffs me as to why Duke would get East & not South, since they are located in the Southeast and we in the Northeast.

The hockey selection committee has broad ability to balance the regions for travel and attendance, but for basketball they just go straight closest mileage geography in order of S-Curve.

But Duke is also like almost 1,000 miles closer to DC than Houston, so it doesn't make sense to send them to Houston anyways. They're really more East than Southeast and Houston is straight South not Southeast anyways.

I just want to be the 1 seed in the east on dukes side of the bracket. I guess it’s conceivable we don’t need to be #1 overall and duke the last 1 seed for that to happen. Arizona could be #1 overall and Michigan could fall to the last 1 seed with a few Ls in the BIG. Im betting they end up with at least 2x as many Ls as either UConn or Duke in conference.

Two things you can likely bank on - AZ overall 1 given undefeated and resume (have room for error), and Duke a 1 given ACC. I'd love to pencil us in, hard to given recent play and tougher part of schedule coming up.

Everyone's schedule gets tougher coming up and everyone is going to lose. Banking on Arizona being the overall #1 and Duke a 1 while saying you can't pencil UConn in as a 1 makes no sense.

They're that far ahead on the metrics/resume and expect them to get a number of quality wins, even if they lose a few. Given they're starting with 0 losses, they're in really good shape. 1 in the NET, KP, just about everything.

The ACC stinks and Duke is playing well. Their metrics are really good.

We unfortunately don't have a lot of high level win opportunities, so it feels like we have a lot more room to go down than up. And our metrics have been doing a nose dive. We are 8 in the NET, 11 in KP.

We have been between 6-8 most of the year in the NET. But be overdramatic. It's your thing.

But Aren’t we #1 in WAB which is what the selection committee follows most closely ? My hypothesis assumes we finish the season with only 1 or 2 more Ls + win the BET.

We can pull that off, we're looking good. I don't think we can afford more than two losses. We have three games left against tourney teams.

The selection committee does use WAB but I'm not sure it's their number 1 metric.

UConn is still #1 in WAB but look how close the top 3 teams are. Razor thin margin.

Kudos for digging that up. Is the NET not the number 1 metric they use?

UConn being #1 in WAB gives us a buffer. I think it takes only one Duke loss for us to pass them again.

hadn't heard of this guy until today, these plays are ridiculous

Thanks for sharing. Could you imagine this guy in UConn's offense...

Edit- what a strange player, from looking at his stats he can't shoot at all but his vision, creativity, athleticism/body control is insane.

Mikel Brown and Louisville vs Cam Boozer and Duke.

AJ and BYU vs Koa Peat and Arizona.

It's so refreshing to have young talented players with futures to watch in college basketball this year. Great hoops on tonight.
