So bad they're not even worth talking about anymore. I wouldn't mind seeing the Cuse become somewhat relevant. They seem so far away. It's been too long since we've played.

Florida lost too Auburn, didn't see that coming. Texas pulls a win out against ranked Georgia, Miller seems to be finding some levers with his team of late. Weird game for Florida. Lee pulled and only got 15 minutes. Condon in foul trouble and did nothing. It's a team that seems to have upside when on, but inconsistent.

It was probably better. But just for context UConn didn’t have a real primary ball handler either, Liam had an insane level of responsibility in that game. And I don’t think we had won there in the Hurley era.

That is a good point - Omaha had a vice on Hurley. The famous Two Rings Baldy game. Mackey is Mackey though - maybe toughest place to play in the country.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'd have to go back and see what kind of performances KD, Michae Beasley, and Cade Cunningham put up.

Cade has such a slept on freshman season since it was COVID.

Did you see the pivot foot NBA two (or three) step to the rim move he made - was double teamed about 15 feet from the basket. Split his defenders, and looked like he traveled 3 times. Was wild.

And in person! I've told this one before. We're at a gin mill in a neutral state where the bartender was wearing a P zippy and I had my UConn polo on. This was a few years back when Purdue and UConn were the only two undefeateds left. Being Mr. Friendly I say, "Hey, we're 1 and 2!" The pud says, "I prefer to think of it as just 1."

Well in his defense he is correct it really is just 1 worth mentioning. The 1 is UConn.
 
Notable KP movement. Our offensive rating is officially 37. NG.

Illinois now has the number one offense in the land jumping Purdue. AZ just jumped UM for first after throttling WV. Firming themselves up as the team to beat.

edit: just realized I'm watching a replay 🤣. Not that it changes this observation.

Another observation, Braden Smith on Purdue reminds me of Cam with less "personality".

Wonder what the odds were for Florida last year at the end of January. Or UConn in 2024. Or UConn in 2023. Or Kansas in 2022.

Diarra played 8 minutes in the Creighton game off the bench. UConn started Ball, Stewart, Liam, Karaban and Samson that game. Reed (15) and Mahaney (17) got most of the minutes off the bench.
 
It's not the 40 point outings. But Nate Anebt had 29 points on 50% shooting in a win @ Bama.

He's been coming along in the last few games.

I watched the 2nd half of that game last night. He definitely looks like a pro. Took him longer than the other uber freshmen to get acclimated to college, and he definitely needs to add strength, but he'll be a force the rest of the season.

He's the biggest potential guy of the class. Him and Tennesse were a good fit as a place he can go and get shots up without worry and get paid what he wants.

I wonder where he’ll ultimately end up come time for the lottery.

His stock has dropped considerably while kids like Fleming and Wagler have skyrocketed. Maybe a late season surge brings him back up to lottery, would guess his ceiling at this point is latter half of lottery.
 
I covered the Niagara at Sacred Heart game last afternoon.

What a finish! Sacred Heart ended the game on a 3.5 minute 14-0 run with a game-tying and-one w/ two seconds to go that brought Anquan Hill to the line, who sunk the winning foul shot.

I wasn’t in the locker room after the game, but the vibe in the coach’s offices/player lounge was a huge party.

After injury woes were a big cause for a slow start, Sacred Heart has now won four straight.

don't really think it was the best fit because Barnes still plays 2 bigs regularly and the spacing has been pretty bad for the most part

They have a couple players registering high in individual stats. That campus has blossomed!

He is a baller. I am glad I got to see him in person against UConn at TD Garden. His fadeaway when he dribbles into the lane is really unblockable and unalterable (if that is a word) at this high level of college basketball. I only watched the last 8 minutes of that game against Utah and saw him making 3s (he went 4-5 from 3). If he is making 3s he cannot be guarded. When he had that dribble on 2 steps to the basket dunk where it looked like his forearm was going through the hoop it reminded me of a player being on fire in the 1990s video game NBA Jam.

Of all the frosh, his game is the most dynamic and NBA. His footwork is amazing, eurostep.

Boozer is great, but he's more of a workhorse who gets a lot of bully baskets near the rim. I doubt that translates. DP is so smooth, but he doesn't have the rim attack game like AJD. Wilson is more of a dunker than an all around player.

This freshman class is ridiculous. It was good to start, then you start adding studs like Wagler & Flemming to the mix.
