January General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

Was UConn the 4th 1 seed? How could Duke have jumped us? Also we were awarded #2 Purdue while Duke gets #2 Nebraska. Coulda guessed that!
I believe it was 1. Arizona 2. Michigan 3. Us 4. Duke.

The 2-seeds are more complex because you have to factor in conference matchups and competitive balance (i.e. can’t have number 1 and number 5 on the S-curve in the same region). You can actually reverse engineer the S-curve for someone like Lunardi based on matchups and first weekend sites, since those are also allotted by S-curve.

Right I had that In mind. I would think Gonzaga or Nebraska would be 8th in the S curve so Zona got the Zags. Then UM has to get ISU which is a tough break for them but we should get Nebraska which leaves Duke with Purdue. it’s just funny lunardi already doing Duke favors, willing it into existence on behalf of espn.

Darryn Peterson's scoring is effortless, looks like KU is figuring out how to play with him now

Feels like Peterson could score a basket every trip down the floor if he wanted to, he's making this look easy

This is worse than the Gleaguers

I remember Puff Johnson when he played at UNC. This must be a troll account. I just know this can't be real. I know this can't be true, it can't be. Can it?

Peterson looks like an NBA all star out there. If you wanted a big longshot bet to win the NCAA Kansas is a choice at 30-1

Him and Bidunga were 23-27 from the floor. That is nuts. If they do figure out how to play with him, KU will check up the rankings fast.

Miami could be dangerous in a tournament setting if they learn to play defense. Their offense is fun to watch and Woodruff is a high major big.

This miami buffalo game is a treat.

Cincy has a chance to go up 15 on a steal and wide open layup and the Cincy player goes up and looks like he's never dunked in his life and blows it. Iowa St then scores 5 straight points and it's an 8pt game, if Cincy blows this that will be the turning point.

Nice response after Iowa St cut it to 69-64, Cincy went matchup hunting off the high ball screen and got it back to 11, looks like they're going to hold on.

Fast fall from being undefeated for ISU. This is with Milan going 8-14 from 3 too, which is wild. They got outshot by 18 today due to rebounds and turnovers.

If you see how pumped Cinci is with the win, you realize how these teams see these games as their SB.

Im sure the nectarine fans will celebrate the victory over BC and wonder why they aren’t a 1 seed. Or at the very least make T-shirts for the big win against there rival BC.

There had been mention on there message board of getting us in the tournament if they won the 8/9. But it seems like they should worry about the mighty BC first

Seeing Iowa State, it always comes back to the question of how many teams are actually better than us right now even after Georgetown?

Comical, actually

Nobody has really separated themselves yet tbh, which made that Jon Rothstein video at the start of conference play even more bizarre

Not many - right now Arizona seems to be playing consistently the best with Burries really stepping up. UM has shown it's gaps. There's a group of 8 teams that seem to be in the same bucket.

Have TCU/Utah on one of my screens. I thought I heard the color guy say TCU hit 13 straight shots until they just missed a wide open 3 with 2 seconds left. I skimmed the play-by-play, and that looks right. TCU missed some free throws along the way, but Utah basically stopped playing defense with about 12 minutes left. It wasn't like TCU hit tough shots either. Most of those makes were dunks or uncontested layups. Strange game.

Utah won.
