January General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

Arizona only beat Arizona St by 7. They’re not playing at a championship level.

Did I do that right?

I wonder who is playing at a championship level…..
How did their coach handle the postgame interview though? That’s very important

If there’s an active curse against any team it’s gotta be them lmao that is an insane way to lose three games so close together.
Daniel Hamilton had several games in one season where the player he guarded hit the game winner I believe.

I will preface this with it's way too early for bracketology. But these 2 brackets were updated today and have UConn as a 1 seed. Other 1 seeds are Arizona, Michigan and Duke.

Nothing surprising here. You can expect Uconn to hold their place there until a loss. I wonder if we'd be considered the 2nd or 3rd one.

Pretty comical Vandy was above us in the CBS bracket prior to their loss. There is no chance the committee would actually do that based on the resumes.

Do you think all 4 of these projected 1 seeds will hold until Selection Sunday?

He needs to work on his math. He has us, St John's and Nova in his bracketology but has two bids for the Big East in his list of multiple bids conferences.

Also, Nelson is going to claim that Lunardi wants us back in the American

He has UConn, St. John's, Villanova and Seton Hall in and has the Big East with 4. The bar with the number of teams is above the name of the conference. I think you were looking at the bar below the conference.

I think 3 of the 4 hold. A lot could happen in the B12 given there are 4 very good teams there. AZ isn't a lock yet. UM loses at Purdue, things could shift there. They aren't a lock.

I think we are probably as close to a lock of those 4 as it gets. Duke is probably right there as I don't know who in the ACC is going to give them much of a run. Right now I'd say Uconn, Duke and one of those two others holds, someone else works in.

The tricky question then becomes the S-curve. Duke would likely prefer DC to Houston for their regional. We also obviously want the East and DC.

Deciding where to place the teams on the one seed line is not about parity or ensuring everyone gets a close-ish destination. It’s all-or-nothing geography. If Duke is 3 on the S-curve and we’re 4, they will get DC and we’ll get Houston/South regional.

In sum, we have to stay ahead of them on the S-curve if we’re both likely to stay on the one line to ensure DC. The committee preview reveal they’ll do in a few weeks will be very telling.

There will be zero competition for Philly and we will get it so long as we’re a top-16 (top four seed) team on the S-curve.

Was UConn the 4th 1 seed? How could Duke have jumped us? Also we were awarded #2 Purdue while Duke gets #2 Nebraska. Coulda guessed that!

We do pretty well out west. Just sayin'.

I would be happy with DC or Houston as either one gets me there with family in both spots.

As said above, any 1 seed with a Purdue at 2 and I'm good.

Getting a 1 in Houston with UH rewarded the 2 could be un fun.
