Looks like Jana is rounding into form at just the right time! Now, let’s get Serah to follow suit. If we can get both playing their best for the tournament, our path will become much easier! I’m probably overstating (again) but I’m pretty excited with what I am seeing from Jana. I hope she’s finally turned a corner (for good) and we are about to see why Geno recruited her in the first place. Of course, she has already earned her way as a contributor and one of the best teammates we’ve ever had at UConn (imo) but I wouldn’t object if she suddenly turns into a monster on the boards and becomes the formidable post player we’ve all dreamed of!

I think Jana's on-court performance (by itself and in comparison to Serah) has reached the point where Geno needs to consider replacing Serah with Jana in UConn's starting lineup. Moreover, I think Geno may be thinking along those lines also, based on his "quick hook" for Serah in recent games when she makes mistakes.
Neither player is a reliable scorer from the center position, but at least Jana is a reliable rebounder. And she seems to have gotten her fouling tendencies under some degree of control.
I do worry, as I bet Geno does, about the effect on Serah's frame of mind if she is demoted to the bench. As a senior, she needs all the minutes she can possibly get to advertise herself to WNBA scouts. But of course, that can't be Geno's top priority at this time in the season.

The moral of the story for both of these games is that she can do it. She can play that position effectively, at times in a dominating fashion, and that she has moves that we have never seen before. The frustration is not seeing it every game, or almost every game. Is it a focus issue? Is it a maturity issue? A nutrition or energy issue? She hadn't eaten anything all day and she has a game like that? I'm flummoxed and we all should be.
