This lineup was awesome tonight. Best grouping I’ve seen since the 15-16 season. Lock this lineup in going forward.
If Polley learns how to play defense he can be a real problem at the top of the zone with his length. Too often he’s out there guarding air. He was much better when we went man though.

I actually wouldn’t mind larrier in a 6th man role. That’s not saying he isn’t still the 2nd best player on the team, but it may do him some good since he admittedly has trouble starting the game off with energy

I think this is the lineup we have all been screaming for on the BY for awhile now. No Onourah unless in garbage time and no 3 guard lineups. He finally plays this lineup extensive minutes and it may be the best basketball they have played all season. Only use Anderson to give Adams and Vital quick rests. If nothing else it gives the young guys experience and in the case of Polley he just needs confidence. I think we are starting to see the benefits of extended minutes with Carlton. Still wish they would dump the ball down to him more often.

Agree! Would like to see more Diarra but like this lineup. The freshmen are showing flashes and given the team's situation might as well give them as much run as possible.

Larrier would be better served coming off the bench and playing less with the ball in his hands. He has to learn to position himself better as a wing, especially with a suspect handle like his. If he can be a 6th man microwave I think it will ultimately help his pro chances as well.

I'd like to see Diarra get in there as well, and of course Terry when he gets back. CV and Jalen can't each play 40 mins a game for the rest of the season so if AA can get ~12 mins a game to spell those two that'll work, so long as he has a quick hook.

The problem is, unless he can handle the ball, he's nothing special. His NBA prospects are zero unless he has the ball in his hands. Unfortunately, having the ball in his hands kills the team.

I hope this game is a wakeup call for him -- the team played much better without him than with him. Time to look in the mirror.

People forget Larrier is coming back from a significant injury. While we take it for granted now, that injury was once a career ender. Now people come back in a year or less, but most will tell you it take 2 years to feel normal. Unless you are from the same planet as Adrian Peterson.

I have no problem with JA ‘s minutes if Anderson takes the team for short stretches. Playing the two is like resting for him.
Last year he had the ball in his hand to start every single play ,even Kemba never had to do that .

this line up can be a problem for the rest of the season for opponents with all the length. One more year in the weightroom, and with experience under their belts, a serious contender....

Carlton last 4 games: 10.8 pts 9 boards. 54% from the field. This kid is getting confidence and has a great future ahead of him when he gets stronger.

Vital last 4 games: 14.8 pts 3.5 reb 2 ast. 39% FG. 39% from 3. 86% FT. Close to to steals as well. That's including a terrible game against Memphis. Those percentages bump without it. I really think with some more experience and BBIQ, and a better handle he has borderline AAC all-conference potential.

But how does that affect decision making?

Confidence in your physical ability plays a part in your decision making. Too wreckless or to tight depending on how you feel. Settling for jumpers when you should drive, driving when you should pull up. How much faith does he have in that knee/leg at this point? How strong does it feel? How well does it respond? Etc.

It doesn't explain his lack of ball handling skills.

Josh Carlton is averaging 11 points and 9 rebounds in the last 4 games. Very little foul trouble as well!

Love that kid and some of the other freshman too.

39% from 3 is great. 39% overall is abysmal.

Does that mean vital should be one of those 3 only specialists?

Daniel Hamilton never got over 39% from the floor at UConn. Far from an abysmal player. CV Gets fouled a lot on 2's and is already mostly shooting 3s. Shouldn't overreact

He is abysmal from 2. I think it has m ore to do with his handle than anything. He gets out of control. Handle can definitely be improved if he decides to put in the work

I didn’t mean abysmal player. His shooting and d alone make him a valuable player.

Just saying that a 39% fg% is abysmal shooting overall. Hamilton wasn’t a good shooter either. Jack of all trades guy but a master of none.

Btw I’m a big vital fan. Just saying let’s not get carried away with an overall fg% that low

If he stays CV will leave his stamp at UConn. Ultimate glue guy

Yup. He and Whaley can both do the little things that help teams win. And vital can space the floor.

I am digging the length of polley with those 2 and akinjo running the show for 2-3 years.

Whaley needs one move, and a bigs coach to teach it. He's so athletic that the counters will come. 15 ft jumper and 25 pounds wouldnt hurt either

Not saying Polley is a better player by any means, but he is light years ahead of Larrier at handling the ball.
Underrated aspect of his game. He can help vs the press and go from the wing to the rim without losing the ball.
