"Maybe my Big East sources are lousy, but understand UCF sure bet, Boise still shaky, and /Navy still need some convincing on stability."

"Am told nothing close to definite before Monday night on Big East expansion."

UCF should be a sure bet. I get the reticence of Air Force and Navy - I don't want my school in the Big East, I can understand why they might not want theirs' in either.

Boise just strikes me as a mistake. They've been amazing over the past several years, but inviting them now is like the Yankees overpaying ARod a few years ago. Looked good at the time, but they'll be paying him huge money over the next half-decade for what he was three years ago.

Inviting Boise might be paying for the past five years while buying a future that isn't nearly as promising. They could go up in smoke at any time.

I'm sure that Boise is not the type of school Susan Herbst wants to partner with. I say it does not happen.

Boise is a whole other world of travel and two time zones away. Granted it would be every other year to travel there, but it is easier to get to CA than it is to get to Boise.

It wouldnt be every other year. In a 12 team league you dont play the entire other division every year. you play 3 of them at most for 8 league games making it every 3 or 4 years you go to Boise. It's not that bad at all.

Only takes 4 "no's" for Boise State. Geography and Boise State's atrocious academics make it toxic.

FWIW, Boise is a beautiful place.

I have been to Boise about 8 times on business and once to get to skiing. It is a great little city and has a gem of an economy. But it is hard to get to.

These teams (Navy, Air Force, Boise) don't want to burn bridges. They need to get the rest of their sports situated.

I could be wrong but if the BE adds 6 to 8 teams it's likely the WAC dissolves into the C-USA and MWC for football.

If that happens and the BCS accepts the MWC/C-USA playoff that leaves the MAC and the Sunbelt and 2 indies -- BYU and Army,.

It's one layover. Bradley to Chicago or Minneapolis to Boise. Not terrible.

I know they have limited options, but the idea that the BE has 4 types of schools makes it beyond stupid.

Some all sports, some football only, ND with it's bowl affiliation, hoops and some other sports, etc.

Almost rather see them go all sports with UCF, ECU, Memphis, Houston and expand ND football deal so ND could gain BE BCS once every 2 or 3 years so more appealing to retain auto bid.

It really is. I lived there one summer in a past life.

Boise makes more sense in a 16 team league. Then you play your own division every year, and only two cross over games. One trip west for the east teams, one trip east for the west teams. Much more manageable. I would rather have more outcasts than less in our new league because every one of those outcasts has two senators and some representatives to help out when push comes to shove.

Jacobs still tweet tweeting away. Says a hoops school in the mix. Maybe catholic schools pushing for x or butler.

Contingency against being stuck will sub-par BB schools in a FB-less BE. Fine. But, if the price of FB expansion is raising the exit fee to $10M, then the price of another BB only is that the BB's boot out ND. That's the deal I secretly send through a third party.

Going by the Colley matrix from last year the teams added would be

Boise (8)
Air Force (27)
UCF (34)
Navy (38)
SMU (70)
Houston (86)

Average (44). Not bad for a 9-game schedule if they dump the non-BCS matchups and go with 1 marquee BCS, 1 lower tier BCS and the usual regional home game FCS game.

Based on Nate Silver's fan base rankings and the Colley, Southern Miss would be the best available along with ECU adnd thenTemple for East of the Mississippi strategic fits.

West Coast Time Zone : ranks roughly Hawaii, SDSU, Fresno, Wyoming, Nevada

Adding TCU and Boise together would have made sense, and probably would have kept the Big East from unravelling, but now it feels like the Band Aid of all Band Aids.
