Ja Morant, Murray State PG

This kid is unbelievable

This makes me sad...

LOL at averaging 23 points per game, while leading the entire country in assists.

He has the potential to be a Westbrook type player. He'll be incredibly entertaining to watch.
Yeah, but the ugly stroke and turnovers are a deterrent for me. I don’t see him as the next mid-major turned star like Lillard.

That’s funny cause I’ve seen a couple of his highlights and my initial reaction were like “Damn! This dude is the next Lillard!”

Lillard’s shot is his biggest weapon, look at Morant’s form. It’s almost hard to tell which hand he shoots with. He’s electric, but he’s really going to have to be D Rose 2.0 if he wants to be as efficient as Dame.

Lillard is gonna be the comp, fairly or unfairly, because its lazy and easy to do. Highest Assist Rate ever measured by KenPom (back to 2002-03) was JJ Barea at Northeastern at 54.2%. National leader is usually between 45-49%.

Morant's at 56%.

Shouts to @BLUEDOGHOUSE who was on this train early. I didn't know who he was until this post, looked him up after and have been following his progress this year. From pre-season:
Ja Morant IMO is the best PG in college basketball (well at least Top3). It is clear national media is clueless. Morant is better than Tremont$. This years version of JA will also be higher than #11.

Assist % can be gamed a bit if you take a large amount of shots yourself, because your shots are deducted from the total, whether you make or miss them. So high shot volume PGs end up having inflated ast% numbers.

Assist / 100 possessions is better reflection of actual passing ability, but it's harder to find for college players.

Or even better..

I mean he just had 18 assists in a game where his team made 27 field goals. I'm sure that helped a lot
