J ROSS IS A GO!

Full strength?

Very confusing....Maybe game would not have been such a struggle with normal rotations. Deep team, use it.

He played one minute. I am concerned.
The title to this thread should be edited to "J Ross is a No Go" and yes I am officially concerned.

At first I thought when he entered the game and then exited quickly it was due to a minutes restriction. But he only played a total of 1 minute and entered the game on two different occasions only to be pulled from the game after about 30 seconds of game time. That's concerning.

Hamstring injuries are tricky and their effects can linger for a long time. UConn badly needed his athleticism and energy yesterday when Providence made their 21-4 run in the first half which essentially had them leading and controlling the game until the end of regulation. UConn needs his energy, athleticism, and his 3 and D play with a few finishes at the basket.

It was clear after 20 seconds that he wasn't ready.
I’m not sure what told you that one way or another from 20 seconds.

I thought he was locked in mentally as his first touch he looked to attack but didn’t force anything. Good sign there offensively.

First defensive possession he was called for a foul on a contest but it’s not like he got beat or anything. Wasn’t terrible for someone getting their first game action after 2 games off.

But Hurley could’ve saw something wrong with the hammy maybe? Not sure. But I don’t think his actual play deserved one minute on the court.

Classic "I'm the only one who knows anything" - invalidating a poster based on the short time the player was on the floor -then providing a more complicated explanation of the player based on the same short period of play.

recovering from a hamstring and a team that play at one of the fastest paces in the country that he played at all was a surprise.

Seemed to me he still was not moving well. His movement looked labored, particularly the first step. I commented on it right away to person next to me.

There’s nothing that needs to be complicated about that explanation.

Could he have played? Yes.

Yeah. I agree. He has played good minutes against way better teams. Hurley is obsessed with him. I think it's as simple as what you said.
But he did get in late in the game too for a bit.

You don't have to see anything. Neither does anyone in this forum. Hurley saw something that indicated to him Ross was not ready. In spite of this he did put him in a second time at the end of the second half for a full court press that necessitated PC to use a critical timeout.

Ross and Stewart are critical components for a championship run. We've missed Ross's energy the past three games. Can't wait for him to be fully healthy.

Right. And my comment wasn’t meant as an insult to Ross (or even a criticism).

I mistook the comment. I didn’t know he was talking about his injury movement.

That’s my bad.

Where there is a miscommunication, both parties are often at fault. I could see how "wasn't ready" could be misinterpreted, so I'll take the hit for that.

After a summer of fighting Ross battles I still have scars I’m healing. Got to work on those triggers haha

Heal brother. Ross is absolutely vital to this team reaching its full potential. All 9 guys in the rotation are. Respect to you for riding so hard for Ross when there's some incredibly self-righteous posters on here that default to tEA lEaVEs from the coaching staff being an excuse to tell other posters they don't know ball. Hurley's admitted his mistakes. Posters who act like it's impossible for fans to see something the coaching staff doesn't are probably zero fun at parties.

I've been harping on the fact that this board, and at times the coaching staff, have not given Stewart his deserved credit and playing time for all the skills he brings to the table; and that's been since his freshman year when Stew was the 8th man in the rotation on the greatest college basketball team of all time.

It's great to see other BYers doing the same for our other great, but maybe underappreciated players.

Be at peace, you were right about Ross' talent. Excited to see what Stewart and Ross can be as seniors, but they are both vital rotational pieces on a championship contender and nobody is disputing that anymore. We can rest.

I’m excited to see how this year ends and the roles both can have on next years squad. Think they’ll both be ready to make even bigger leaps to keep this thing going for us.
