Two years ago, almost to the day, our boys engaged in a hard-fought, physical battle with an 18th-ranked Xavier team in the Charleston Classic.. only to lose by a point in 2OT. It was the national coming-out party for James Bouknight.

Today, our boys engaged in a hard-fought, physical battle with a 19th-ranked Auburn team in Atlantis, in what was the national coming-out party for Jordan Hawkins.

The difference? Today, we pulled it out because we had the horses and the depth. Year four of Hurley's culture and some stellar recruiting has made all the difference. And there is no better illustration than when contrasting these two games.

Let's hope we left enough in the tank to take home the chip. !!!

Ummm, how about that guy named Adam’s Sonogo?

No slight intended to Sanogo. Was he a beast? Hell yes. But I feel the national media has been on him for a couple of weeks now, to the point where it's no longer a hot take to say leaving him off the BE First Team was a bonehead move. (I listen to a handful of national podcasts). Those onions by Hawkins that gave us distance in the first half, though? Sure opened a lot of eyes.

Refs almost stole that game from us with 2 clean blocks as fouls and a terrible out of bounds review in the final OT. All in all a great early season game but we got too one dimensional down the stretch of regulation. Hawkins had some nice minutes before that freaky turnover cost us an OT win. Gotta give Auburn some credit they deserve to be top 20 and could be even better. It just looks like there are at least 20 quality teams out there early and maybe as many as 30. Probably a reflection of more upperclassmen around the country. Some good basketball ahead this year.

We got some calls too but geez, every freaking time they went to the hole it was 2 shots which was padded with them fouling at the end. But 24-15 on turnovers.

Too reiterate what everyone else is saying, this is the game we've constantly lost for the last few years. A great win.
