I've never seen a referee crew call a game so 1-sided before in my entire life. I would say that it was an honorable loss, but not when you lose with refs like that. They were against us from the tip.

I'm getting pretty used to us being bent over by the refs.

Just saw a tweet that ESPN and local reporters were trying to talk to the refs after the game and ask questions, but AAC executives denied them.

Refs sucked. Team lost composure. National story will be the no call and quick Double T.

Dickey V and Shulman helped set the narrative of weak officiating.

The win at Memphis is better than the loss tonight is bad.

They weren't that bad, aside from the Giffey foul, the second tech (the first is somewhat arguable, Ollie reacted enough to deserve a tech, but it never should have gotten that far). Let's see, Daniels missed dunk no call. The Boatright drive (no call and one). And maybe a few more. Aside don that they were great.

Killed a pretty good game, just killed it.

That said, UConn needed to rebound better and get something out of Daniels. He missed the dunk, at least one layup and about two open jumpers.

Liked how Boatright played mostly.

Napier is still the best guard in America.

Kromah and Giffey were OK

Olander was good offensively, but needs to rebound.

Brimah is good defensively but needs to get stronger and finish.

Calhoun was a no-show more or less. Same with Nolan.

I was expecting the OP to be "...with a lack of desire on the glass." Because that is what truly disgusted me.

Think it was the reaction more than anything else... It looked like he said, "what are you doing?" over and over.

Refs played a role but we just watched them get so so so many boards.

That was hands down the worst officiated game of the season. The no call on Giffey and the subsequent techs on KO set off a chain reaction. The team clearly lost its composure. The refs seem to let UL bump us all night with little to no consequence. There were a number of drives where there was contact and no calls while on the other end they not only called them all, but even blew the whistle on some phantom calls such as that one on Bazz on the baseline where I didn't see any contact.

With that said, our Huskies got abused on the glass, giving UL tons of second chance points. There were way too many no shows. Bazz had a huge game, but 5 field goals between DD, Omar, Brimah, Kromah, Nolan and Olander.

They struggled to stop penetration. To beat UL they needed a team effort like what we witnessed against Memphis, but there were too many no-shows.

'Ville kills you off the ball, hangs around after opposing team rebounds to look for weaknesses from the rebounder, contests everything, usually wins 50-50 balls, streaks for rebounds ferociously etc....

If you don't match their intensity and the refs don't call the game tight(off the ball particularly and both ways) you lose.

I thought we got real soft defensively after the T.
We decided to use penetration as a weapon too late

I feel we are so equipped to use the new hand checking rules to our advantage but choose not to.It frustrates the crap out of me. We should be on the line much more than we are.

Also the refs sucked!!!!!

And to think they didn't even need Siva to do that. The no call was worse than Jim Joyce. But the Tigers still won that game.

I just saw a tweet going around... "Tonight we are all #sadjonathan"

We really couldn't use penetration because they weren't calling the game the same at both end. They called a foul on OC for a finger tip touch, and failed to call any when Boat went to the basket. Are you saying they never touched him?

Not referring to any specific play.
I know it is hard to penetrate a zone in particular. I feel we settle for time expiring outside shots too often when we have 2 very capable guards to take you off the dribble that these new rules are suited for.

I also wish we would try to push the ball when we get defensive rebounds. Too often the guards are coming back to the rebounder(when the rebounder is not a guard, which often is the cases with Napier) instead of long outlets to push tempo to look or easy scores

Too often the guards are the rebounders. I would just like the frontcourt to rebound... once they figure that out we can work on outlet passes not being thrown away.
