Expert Boneyard Analysis!
Predictions, favorites, hot seat coaches taking the upset loss.

(I'm sure there will be a separate degenerate thread to cover the lines)

UConn 34 CCSU 3. For UConn 4 TD's and 2 FG's. CCSU is lucky to get a FG if they will even sniff the redzone on offense. That score could easily be 44 - 0 or 54 - 0 but first game no one is a well oiled machine. Blow out for UConn none the less.

First game of the year in Dublin! Psyched to turn on the TV and see some of the sites from when I went to ND Navy a couple years ago. I turn on ESPN and see!!!! ... the inside of an ESPN studio 🤮. What the hell ESPN...

.. anyways, UConn by 20 in week 1

Part of me wishes UConn played during Week 0 and the other part of me knows that it is probably a good sign they don’t have to

sorta kidding sorta not - are we ready to get past the whole "week zero" thing? NFL has 18 weeks and just calls it as such... why week zero? it's not a big deal of course, just wondering if there's a reason i'm not considering.

is it a consequence of hawaii opponents having 13 games? even so, my question would still stand... what is so holy about labeling 12 weeks when it's not actually 12...

Isn’t the last time we played in Week 0 was when we melted our cleats and got crushed in Fresno?
We lost at Utah State in Mora’s first game the following season too, but man that Fresno game still stands out. Gosh those were dark days

Ha ha on the X post.... but it won't be funny until we see what the turf looks like @ the RENT after this. Don't want to overreact, but why did management book this unknown ( a concert and the stampede on the field) a week before your major tenants home opener ? Especially when the venue is a ghost town all year long without Uconn ?

No clue about the score (it could be just about anything), but I think how much Joe plays will be the most interesting feature. It will tell us a lot.

I predict Joe will play three quarters if he is sharp, with others taking snaps in the fourth. If it looks like he is shaking off the off-season rust or needs to develop his relationship with the receivers, he will play the whole game. Need to have him really sharp for the next game.

I think Hawaii being good is good for college football so I was particularly happy with yesterday. Thrilled college football is back. See you at the Rent in 6 days 😁

Word is that they did most of the setup Wednesday in the pouring rain. Field is completely destroyed and will have to be re-sod before Saturday

No doubt, but it's terrible management by the venue to do a promoter booking/ talent buy for the first concert in years, a week out.
They had since last NOV to do a trial run to see how the field responds...this if true.....

We'll see on SAT.

To your point, ESPN is calling it week one.

So this week (future opponent) Buffalo travels to Minnesota for a Thursday night opener broadcast on FS1. Nice exposure if they can make this competitive. Minnesota at home will be tough.

the rent showing out for concert promoters may be more worth it to the state, than having perfect grass for one more uconn game against a baby opponent. I get your point but they are probably weighing that and deciding that the need to diversify is dire enough to take the risk. when all you have is 6 uconn games, which is not exactly a moneymaker, I can't say I blame them.
