Just back from a great blast at the home of friends to enjoy "Our Girls," NFL playoffs, a tremendous meal by a marvelous Lebanese cook (and skilled grade-school teacher) and substantial quantities of Makers Mark Manhattans provided by her slug of a husband (he bought the hooch, I do the mixing).
Barb and I have reviewed the film of yet another down-to-the-wire competition among our growing field of intrepid pundits. And it IS now official:
Our meticulous examination of the photo-finish reveals, as impetuously, unofficially, improperly, yet understandably rumored by DADDY CHOC, that the Marquette prediction winner is:
(drumroll.............................) MEYERS!!!........by a nose over the late-starting, always impetuous, DC himself. Evidently, blood is finally making its way to the brain of the winner, who is fresh off a more than inpressive third place finish in the Georgetown competition. Quite an incredible back-to-back performance by one who's grasp of reality has often seemed so tenuous on this board. An enthusiastic tip o' the cap to the victor for these consecutive truly impressive consecutive predictions. TRULY impressive, MEYERS.....no joke.
DC: had been thinking you might be deceased, you old fool.............so long since I've noticed you on here. Glad you stuck your old turkey neck out with a prediction.....VERY nicely done. And glad you seem to be alive and well. Place goes to the DADDY.
A hard-charging and little known MOOSE startled staid observers and edged out a number of legitimate thoroughbreds down the stretch to garner the Show slot.....by an antler, apparently.
Georgetown prediction blue ribbon-winner, FORD, though off the pace due to a very tentative start, made a very fine showing from the Clubhouse turn on in......and showed keen sensitivity to the shrill calls from the official track bugler in the process (see original Pundit thread for the Marq game).
JPLOT, despite a mighty effort from the outside, paid keen and impressive attention to late alterations in the odds, yet came up somewhat lame in his final sprint.
WINLOTS lost the only tangible wager offered (again see original post for Marquette pundits). I had said one of the new pundits would out-do the established aces. Since there was no one on the other side of that offer of a quarter, how should we dispose of this 25 cents? GIve to winner of the L'ville game score predict ions on Tuesday? Let the interest accumulate for the ultimate winner at end of season? Donate it toward rehab equipment for our endless squad injuries? Hair spray for Coach? A muzzle for me? Oxygen for MYERS and CHOC? Your thoughts.............??
