I wouldn't be surprised to see her cleared to practice very soon, maybe sooner than we think.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't find out anything new today. It's not our business anyway, and we should respect Mosqueda-Lewis's right to privacy. Coach Auriemma already said she's not playing this weekend after the Stanford game. Beyond that, who knows. UConn is fortunate to have a very capable bench.

Why wouldn't you be surprised? Have you some updated information?

I would think that, if the swelling has gone down, at the very least, an MRI will be done, today. I'd like to see her accompany the team this weekend, even though she won't be able to play.

Yes it is! KML is a public figure, not just an anonymous student. We should not pry into her privacy and there are Hippa laws to protect that but we pay money to watch her perform and we have a right and a concern to be informed.

maybe I'm splitting hairs here, but I think there's a difference between "our business" and "our interest". I believe, in the most literal, narrow use of the word, that KML's immediate health is not our business. We are not family, we are not a University or Team member/employee who is involved or responsible, we are not personal friends with KML.

That doesn't mean we aren't terribly interested. We are fans, dedicated, ticket-buying, television/internet subscribing, UConn gear-wearing fans. I think you hit it on the head, Forty_Four, when you say we have "a concern to be informed" We are invested in the program, and in the progress of the individual players - but, I don't know if that rises to the level that KML's health is our "business".

And they have a right NOT to disclose anything until they know more.

I have been checking in periodically to check for any updates. Wishing her healing thoughts.
I long for the day that my Cardinals will beat you all, but never at the expense of an injured athlete.
Best wishes to her for good news.

Vehemently disagree. I wanna know details as much as anyone, but she is not a paid professional and not just a marketing asset for UConn for us to consume. She owes us nothing.

44…I’ll add that to the rapidly expanding list that the public has for personal entitlements.( Irony emoticon needed)

Is there no one on campus that has seen her walking around? If so, did she have her arm in a sling, a cast on or perhaps nothing unusual looking?

The public may not have a right to know, but inquiring minds need to know.

maybe I'm splitting hairs here . . .

Yeah, maybe.

Unfortunately there are no P.C. guidelines to inform us as to what is appropriate in this
instance.

KML is a student athlete, not a professional. We are fans, not family, not neighbors, not teammates. We have no rights to know her private details unless she and her family agree to release those facts. The team will let us know what they and the family feel is appropriate to let us know. Concern is one thing, entitlement entirely something else. Sorry, but the "we pay money" argument is fairly demeaning to a young woman at a very difficult time in her life.

The university owes the general public information, that is why they are having a presser. The media will be informed, thus the general public, and they will be told whatever the university feels is appropriate. Never meant to insinuate that KML owes the general public anything. I can't imagine that we would never be informed with an update on her condition unless KML or her family demanded silence. We may not have a "right" to this info in the strictest sense, but the media has an obligation to make attempts to inform their readers. Besides when was the last time injury information of an athlete was withheld, this isn't National secrets.

See Belichick, Bill.

Bill is a good example of not providing much of anything, but he still must provide even limited info and a game status, such as questionable, for the next game according to NFL guidlines.

Marketing Asset????????????????????????? Consume her??????????????

This is nonsense. No one's claiming any "right" to know. KML is one of our stars. We have grown to love her and we are concerned about her. What's wrong with that? It's only natural to be anxious about her. Furthermore, we've been praying for her. KML herself would want us to know as soon as anything definitive is available.

This is an elbow injury, not a criminal investigation.

Within the world of WCBB, I am not aware of any precedent for withholding information about a player's basketball injuries, including the amount of time that she will be expected to be unavailable. Professional sports are a different world -- not just the Patriots but nearly every hockey team provides only vague information ("upper body injury") because they must legitimately be concerned about opponents trying to aggravate the injury by intentionally hitting the player on the injured body part. I don't think that is a serious concern is WCBB.

Even in football and hockey, if a player's injury is serious enough to keep him out of the lineup for multiple weeks or longer, that information will typically be disclosed. Tom Brady's injury a few years ago was disclosed as soon as it was verified.

I was reacting to 44's comment, not HoopsFan "Yes it is! KML is a public figure, not just an anonymous student. We should not pry into her privacy and there are Hippa laws to protect that but we pay money to watch her perform and we have a right and a concern to be informed."

The notion that we are owed something because "we pay money to watch" doesn't sit well with me when we are talking about students. Sure we can be concerned but we should get the info on her timeline not ours, IMHO.

I care about KML's health and my only concern is for her. My personal feelings on this issue are split. If there is a delay on any announcement I'm sure there is a valid reason and normally I would accept that. But that doesn't help my personal situation because my wife is asking me every five minutes if I've heard anything. So come on UConn and let me know what is going on so my wife will have an answer and I get a reprieve.
