It's ACC or bust now - Boise out?

Why join now. They should wait this out. Hell every NBE football team who can is begging out. The rest need to be free to pick up the pieces and maybe make their own conference.

Boise State, San Diego State and BYU have had conversations with Mountain West membership about the possibility of returning to the league, sources told ESPN.

These talks originated after last week's decision in Denver by the BCS commissioners awarded an automatic access bowl berth to the highest rated champion to the "Group of Five" conferences. That decision, in essence, put the Mountain West on equal footing as far as playoff access with the Big East starting in 2014.

Man, I want to hear that UConn to ACC anouncement. Either UConn or Louisville (and let's hope it is Louisville) is going to be in a world of hurt.

For all those who complained about ND's partial membership (and I was on from time to time) and our westward expansion. Be careful what you wish for.

I say bring back the WAC for them! Idaho and NM St may still be saved!

Interesting that those conversations began last week before the MD/RU and possible UConn/UL moves were known.

I never believed those guys would join to begin with. You had to figure something like this would occur.

If those follows through, 2014 is probably the last season of BE football. Where would Memphis go? Back to the C-USA? What about UCF and USF? SMU and Houston would be solid adds for the MWC. Even though they're east of the Rocky Mountains.

I dare ask but let's assume we get stuck....where do we go? MAC? C-USA? Kill me now.....

I don't mean to be cruel, but assuming UConn lands in the ACC... who freakin' cares?

NCAA FB needs a czar. This realignment madness is getting out of hand. It can be rationalized a lot of ways but shooting yourselves in the feet is still shooting yourselves in the feet.

Kaboom! It's over! If we don't get into the ACC we should go get Cincy, USF, and any other respectable team left that's east of the Miss., make blood pact and just stop the madness.

Poor Temple. Kicked out once. Only to come back to a dissolving conference!

When the Big East was castrated, and relegated the equal the of MWC, MAC, etc., the only thing to entice them to join was possibly more TV money. Now that the Big East defections have begun, there goes that. No reason for them to come. Not yet anyway.

ESPN is behind this. BE did not sign any TV deal with ESPiN and BOOM! I suspect ESPN is again creating instability in the BE now that BE is still out there shopping for a new TV deal.

Lets take Aresco too. Make an 8 team all sports conference. Just need to get ranked higher than "others" and we are in like...

You know things are going bad in the Big East when Temple is thinking about voluntarily leaving; we don't even have to kick them out this time.

Houston was quoted on their contingent revenue clause with the NBE
Like SDSU is expecting 6.2 million or they can opt out.

I have my doubts that the will follow Uconn football's lead

Hey man, I don't like to see people suffer. That's just me.
Agree with this, the Big East for all its warts, could have thrived if the BE presidents were loyal to one another. Instead, they've all been all to willing to screw the rest in order to ensure perceived stability somewhere else.

This is a real puzzler. Why would Boise and SDSU rejoin a league that has programs like Wyoming and SJSU that draw 15k and the league distributes $1MM/year in revenue per school and is locked up for 4-5 more years?

Even a revamped Big East without Rutgers, UConn or Louisville is worth $8-10MM/school in this environment, and the contract would take effect next year. They could do an east/west split to cut down on travel, and dominate the automatic bid slot for the BCS bowls.

I think you way off on the numbers and this will be the final raping of the big east contract.
