Almost posted the same title.
A lot going on in the kids head. Some regression, pressure to live up to two previous teams that had more talent. A coach who's not really helping the team and the fans expectations.
There's talent on this team. Anyone who's days we don't have the talent to win is clueless.
Right now it's all on Hurley to get these guys to focus on playing basketball and not worry about running it back.

Yes it does suck, I could've clarified my post better but I did intentionally keep it brief to leave it open for one's own imagination.
Enjoying time with family for Thanksgiving would also be living in the moment.

If they told us after 22 that over the next three seasons we would have one year in the NIT and two natties we would have signed up in a heartbeat. We had unrealistic expectations for this season based on what we lost.
Well it is what it is. Choosing to watch the replay isn't exactly a great life decision.

It wasn’t a rewatch. I didn’t know the outcome. Avoided it.
Anyway, we have two championships in a row and I hope this team can figure things out and make a run to get in the tournament. I know I’m the only one here who feels this way but I hate missing the tournament as much as I like winning it.

No need the Giants to lose, I want that top pick. I'm so fed up with that organization that I want it all to be burned to the ground I want them to get destroyed and see no fans in the stands at home games because they deserve it. I don't have the same attachment with professional sports teams that I do with UConn sports.
If your pro sports teams aren't battling for a playoff spot, then I can't root for them, it would be one thing if the Cowboys were battling for a the division , but the Cowboys losing would benefit them too don't want that.

Who would have thought after Monday that we would be looking back on the Memphis game as our best performance.
But, a ten point comeback to tie the game against a quality opponent is a notable accomplishment.
This team will play better. Have to take care of business against Maryland Eastern Shore and then somehow squeeze one win out of the next three to gain some positive momentum

It is what it is. The structural problems this team has will not go away. There is hope that things can get better though.
This team is not great defensively and yet that is a Dan Hurley calling card. You have to believe that by February we will be a dramatically better defensive team. All the new pieces being in the Hurley system longer certainly makes it likely that they will look dramatically better on defense. That's a huge first step.
The point guard position is a problem, but we've seen hints of promise in Nowell. As he gets healthier and gets more experience, I think we're going to be a lot stronger at the point.
Mahaney Does not look comfortable in a playmaking role, nor particularly on defense. I wonder if time will change that. It's not a knock against the kid so much as a recognition of his struggles with the physicality of high major basketball. I wonder if he would be better used in a John Gwynn like role. Just have him come in and run plays for him from outside. I think that may be his best use on this team.
Reed seems to be our best center right now. I actually liked the quick hook on Johnson against Dayton. Let him continue to start, but if he gets in foul trouble, switch him out for Reed, I do feel like Reed, has a ton of upside.
Keep in mind to that both McNeeley and Karaban seem to be taking turns being our big scorer. Sooner or later, they both are going to go off at the same time, and that would make us an exceptionally difficult matchup. It's coming.

I’m not too worried about it. I know people like to say we didn’t lose because of the refs, but in all honesty we did lose the first two games because of the refs. Putting aside the FT disparity, everyone was in foul trouble in both halves, and both centers fouled out both games. Not many teams can execute with 2-3 rotation guys not playing when they should be. And even if you ignore that and say it’s bad defense, the two over the back blown calls alone directly lost us both games. Yeah, if we played better then we would’ve still won those, but that doesn’t take away the fact that we lost because of the refs.
The Maui refs were horrendous throughout the whole tournament. Calling back players onto the court 5 minutes into halftime to play out 2 seconds, multiple technicals after blown calls (yeah it wasn’t just us), and incredibly inconsistent (often one sided and biased) refereeing. But unfortunately, there’s little to no repercussions for refs not performing how they should.
That being said, same exact thing happened to us 2 years ago in big east play. We eventually made the adjustments needed. Hurley will use this as motivation all the way up to our 3rd consecutive natty.
