UConn continues to execute and everybody knows where they are suppose to be and what to do when things break down. So bringing in Gabby while Morgan sits and starting Lou and bringing in Collier or Butler doesn't change the game plan only changes the players not the play because UConn plays as a team not a bunch of individuals. The discipline Geno has instilled is the motor that continues to make it work and we see the results. When you turn on the UConn machine it runs until the game is over no matter who is on the floor playing. The better the player the better the results. The better the defense the wider spread in score. It comes down to this :

Teamwork divides the effort and multiplies the effect because we are stronger together than either one is alone!

Of course if it were that simple there would be more outstanding teams in WCBB. Somehow, even though UCONN's method for acheiveing success is talked about, analyzed, dissected and praised most teams still tie their fortunes to scoring stars.

It's no accident that it's been UCONN and Notre Dame meeting in the Final Four the last three years for the title. (I know one of those games was a semifinal, but that game was for the title), and that Texas A&M came out of nowhere to win in '11.

One great star can make the difference in big games, but even Taurasi (man am I actually saying this?) could not have done what she did if she hadn't spent most of the regular season nurturing her teammates. Great stars (Parker, Griner, Maya and of course Diana) drive their teams to championships, but they don't do it alone.

Still most teams are happy to let their best shooter unconsciously hoist up ill-advised shots, and in only a few programs are assists as celebrated as they are here. The concept of "team" is generally usurped by a desire to score, which leads as we know to inflated statistical phenom's who usually get to watch the members of four other teams compete in the FF.

There are also only a few teams that truly take as much pride and put in as much effort on both ends of the floor.

I think what really sets Geno/CD apart is an obsessive attention to detail - they do not miss anything in practice or in games, and they do not allow anything to just slide. If it isn't just right, then it is wrong and it will be fixed before the sun sets.

Must admit, the front court was real strong last night, didn't miss a beat.

About all the above philosophizing about process.
I don't get invited to practices, so I can't comment, having no first-hand knowledge
But aside having the best players, they must be doing something right. :)
