Isaiah’s cousin Patrick Ngongba also played for Paul 6 Catholic in that championship game but was coming off an injury and his impact and minutes were reduced.

Isaiah was the primary defender against Flagg. He also played some five out of necessity because of his cousin’s injury. We all know Flagg is outstanding and he did manage to score against Abraham, but Abraham’s defense limited those scoring opportunities.

Isaiah got in foul trouble playing the five which limited his playing time. But this kid’s defense is outstanding. And he scored against that superior Monteverde team.

The staff had focused on Patrick and were hoping to get the package. But Abraham will probably be one of the stories we write in the future like getting Jeremy Lamb or Cam Spencer when we lost out on our primary target.

Abraham also shot quite well from 3 in those games.

He seemingly just gets better and better.

Determining the trajectory of any athlete’s development is part science, part art, and part luck. When coaches are evaluating a player and getting a commitment they never can be certain whether that player can improve and develop into the athlete they project.

To get a player starting in the program significantly better than when he committed is a bonus. Hopefully the upward trajectory continues. I believe it will.

I feel the same way about Ross. It will be interesting to watch these two as the year progresses.

Like the Lamb and Spencer analogies and IA looks like a much better shooter than some here said.
IIRC the statements were he was a good defender and athletic but not an offensive threat.

I'm impressed and excited to see see how things shake out as far as what players earn PT.

We just might see one of the deepest benches and evolving lineups and rotations as this team comes together.
You are probably right. IA, in those snippets, is much different than was in my mind. He is terrific - and very skilled. He and JS are going to really have some interesting battles. Defense is not on display - always a critical aspect to this. DH was right - this team - to this fan’s eye - is quite talented and goes deep into the bench. It is very exciting to watch.
