Geno has won the NC on numerous occasions with 6 or 7 players and no bench. He could definitely do it again this year.My worry is will injuries derail this team. Will Gabby's hip,Crystal's shin splints and Lou's ankle, foot etc. finally catch up with them in the tournament.

That’s the $64,000 question. With UConn’s starters all healthy, I think they win #12. With one or more injured, it gets a whole lot tougher.

Agree. I think with all 6 players healthy it would be hard enough against a final four team. These players probably would have to average somewhere between 30 and 35 minutes in such a game. If one were injured, who could replace any of them and play under high pressure at a high enough level to enable the team to win.

The good thing is we should be able to win the AAC title even without Gabby or Crystal. Regardless, the team will have a very nice layoff to rest, relax, and get healthy.

At this time of year Geno changes his coaching. It's no longer "teach new stuff, harp on things you are doing wrong". It's all about "perfect what you already do well, and give loads of positive reinforcement".

Also once the NCAA's start, it's play 2 games in 3 days, then almost a week off. Lots of time to rest for the kids who are dealing with lingering or nagging injuries. I do hope they are all 100% healthy come NCAA time and that Geno is able to manage their time on the court given their injury issues etc. Heck, the first 2 rounds, we could probably go with Kia, Napheesa, Z, Megan and Mikayla/Molly and still get to the sweet 16...

You’re asking for a lot. I just want UConn to win one game, the last one they play. ;)
That could be the fist game of the tourney. That would not be good at all.

Let me walk you through this. If UConn wins the 1st game of the tournament, they play another game and so on until they “win the last one they play,” which will also happen to be the National Championship game.

Sorry oldude, I got that all messed up. I thought about it later. Thanks for the correction.

Nope.

If Gabby does not play tomorrow, is it business as usual, or does USF close the gap, and make a game of it? Kia will have to lock down Laksa again. Z needs to turn in a double-double tomorrow with limited turnovers.

I think the gap increases tomorrow. This time of year is beat-down time. I think Gabby will play very little or not play, giving MW (and hopefully Batouly) more minutes with the starters, which is more important right now than developing the other freshmen and pretending to develop the incompetent sophomores. Anyway, regarding the 'gap', the AAC thing is just stupid and embarrassing. HELP!!!! PLEASE can we play a real team???

We just did a few weeks ago. Remember we played the SEC champ on their home floor and had them down 30 at half. What difference does it make when UConn treats every team like an AAC opponent?

Don't bother me with new math.

The real problem with playing in a weak conference is not simply facing weak conference opponents; the problem is the law of large numbers. When you have to play the same weak teams a thousand times, there will just be that one time when you may get beaten because of a variety of reasons (injuries, fouls, bad shooting night, etc.). The fact that this has not yet happen to UCONN (although it almost did against Tulane) is truly a miracle.
