Both ESPN and Her Hoop Stats agree with Sports-Reference that Azzi is 92-100 currently for her career.

UConn Media Guide (81-89) plus this season (11-11) also = 92 of 100.

She just needs to make 8 more to get on the UCONN % list. (min 100 made)

Bird tops the list at .892

KML - .874
Duran - .860
Bueckers - .850
KLS - .838
Crystal Dangerfield - .833
Collier - .823
DT - .819
MoJeff - .818
Shea - .814

Xavier is up next. Azzi could if she cared to just decide to relentlessly attack the basket and get those 8 made FTs and be done with it. In the process she'd make a lot of layups.

It surprised me when Michigan fouled Azzi at the end of the game, or that they even allowed her to receive a pass. Seriously?

Freshman Azzi smoked Stanford’s hopes from the ft line. Putting a freshman on the line at the end of a close final four game made sense. But it makes a whole lot less sense now for any team to put Azzi on the line at the end of a close game.

The UConn media notes before the Utah game had Azzi's career FT stats at 90 FTM out of 98 FTA. In the Utah game she went 2 for 2, so now she is at 92/100 for a 92.0% clip.
It seems likely her attempts will go up this year based on her increasing confidence in driving to the basket.

Who is Duran? Pre-Geno?

Saw someone compare her late game FT shooting to her mentor Steph Curry’s. Azzi has nerves of steel.

Azzi needs to learn how to get to the line. Maddy Siegrest, for example, averaged 150 per year and had 260 as a senior.
Azzi has a career 45.5 FG % which is excellent for a guard. So she probably has no need to get to the line.

By Comparison Michael Jordan who was the greatest basketball we have ever seen on this planet has a career 49.7 FG%

Shaq has like a 58% I believe but since centers/post players are closer to the basket they will always have a higher %...

Great comparison. Her clutch performance in the Michigan game was next level. I've watched so many W players crumble under pressure in big moments, but Azzi has always met the moment

Great point if I'm Michigan I'm triple teaming her and not allowing he to catch it. Even it is risks a lay up, someone else has to shoot those. Anyone but her.

Getting too the line has a greater expected payoff than shooting a 2. And it gets the other team in foul trouble. Uconn shoots fewer free throws than any top team.

But Azzi shoots a lot (probably most) of her shots from 3. She also converts on 45% of those shots (a little under half)

With her knees ( 2 ACL surgeries) she doesn't/shouldn't need to chance taking hard hits driving to the rim just to create a foul situation.

If it were anyone else I would say yes.

After 2 ACLs she is lucky to be playing at all.

I also don't think Uconn is that desperately in need of points where we have to watch her get a season ending injury again.

We need Azzi healthy because we are trying to win another title. Why mess around. Just my thoughts.
