Is this Hurley after this game?

Calhoun's my favorite coach of all time but the amount of revisionist history coming out of that account is crazy. It's like that poster was not around for the Calhoun era.
Exactly! My point of posting that article is that Calhoun was characterized by the media as being a boorish bully and sore loser with more grudges than you can count , yet he is glorified on here(I love him too). Hurley has to clean up some stuff with the refs and fans in-game and after and some people here act like he's some toxic reprehensible monster. Hurley is at least self-reflective about his behavior and ego and knows he needs to get better. He said as much in the press conference yesterday. He knows he is a work in progress. Calhoun was way more unapologetic. With both, the good far outweigh the bad on the court and off.

I wouldn’t trade or change Hurley and his flaws, it is what makes him our great coach. Is it ’bombs that bother you? If you took those out and changed them with say “impacted“ or “screwed” would you be of the same opinion? That word is used everywhere in our society today

To me, I don’t care about the swearing. I care about blaming the loss on officials as you’re leaving the court when they had little to do with the result of the game.

bombs just made it juicier to go along with the whining for the media to report on.

If I had to guess what he was referring to specifically it was the oob on Solo and the subsequent no call on Karaban’s reverse. They turned out to be bad plays but were close calls, and shifted the game significantly.

I could care less what he says and does. I don’t see what the big deal is. I have literally stopped watching the NBA because the refereeing is poor and the college game is not far behind. These refs are HORRIBLE. Not talking about this game, just in general. They have ruined the game of basketball for me. And it’s not watching UConn only, it’s the NBA where I don’t have a favorite team. It’s bad and something needs to be done. Draymond Green was right when he said the NBA is a bad product. I think it’s the way the game is being called. College basketball is a close second and it’s caused me to gravitate towards football more the last few years.

.-.

The out of bounds on Solo was clearly off on him, it touched his hand twice before going out of bounds

Seriously though, I do not give a single care about Calhoun yelling at players or media or a fan because they were distracting him coaching.

I wish Hurley would yell at players when they mess up, especially his stars who seemingly gets away with everything and have unlimited rope once he feels like they need them.

I wish Hurley would stand his ground with some media members instead of constantly folding into pretzels apologizing because he wants to be liked by them so bad.

Telling a fan to be quiet because he’s working is not the same as taunting a fan after a win.

We’re talking about a coach being strong vs a coach being whiney and acting like a child.

Calhoun was completely secure in who and what he was for good and bad to the point you had to respect it. That is not the case with Hurley.
Our coach is too whiney for you. Not secure enough with his bad behavior. He should just own it and not apologize or try to do better. Be more macho like JC. Got it

Btw, he didn't tell a fan to be quiet. I would rather have a person point at their 2 rings than tell me to "shut ..k up" in front of everyone.

Yeah, and?
Lol @ rocking with SIDs trying to run up on media and telling them I'll ruin your life when it's perfectly normal to record teams exiting the court. Some of y'all are in far too deep on the stannery, y'all can have it.

I thought you were referring to Hurley

lol this is why I asked if you watched the video, the Hurley issue is secondary, there is a very specific action that is being discussed in that video

Yeah, I saw that. It’s stupid

Haha fair. Very fair on this point.

I don’t remember Calhoun having the lows that Hurley has shown these past few years. That he somehow doesn’t get techs for.
Describe these “lows”

Jim Calhoun lost his dad at 15 but I’m suppose to feel bad for Hurley because his who was the best HS coach in Jersey raised him to be competitive?

He’s 50 and suppose to be molding young men, not himself. It is not that hard to shutup and walk down a tunnel after your first tourney loss in 3 years.

We don’t have to talk about the childhood trauma of a grown suppose to be leader of men to excuse it.
Hurley’s constant outbursts are not normal and not something the guys you listed do as often as he did. It’s not some new age thing.

Yes, it’d be nice if people could pay attention to what he said 5 minutes later but it’s his own fault he couldn’t have an ounce of self control by unnecessarily blaming the refs on his walk out.

That is entirely his fault.

Edit: Bob Knight definitely had those outbursts and he’s well known for them. The cameras caught everything lol

No it’s not. This has been Hurley before UConn and when he arrived at UConn. You’re only bent out of shape bc the accounts you follow are getting their shots in now. It’s pathetic. You intentionally choose to ignore the hundreds of coaches over the years who have done worse.

Would you prefer Hurley act cordial on the court but beat his wife or molest college girls?

Other fans and schools would kill to have Hurley as their coach (some tried to poach him), but some fans here are crying bc Hurley uses bad words and whines about the refs. Completely glossing over the literal criminal acts by other coaches.

Such as Todd Golden. Again, where is Dan Wolkens piece on the Title IX investigation? There were 2.

You’re trying really, really hard here.

Very few people hate Geno. He's a great coach who behaves like a great coach who respects his players and the officials. I've never seen Gino come to even close to a temper tantrum.
He's far too old now.

My opinion has nothing to do with what other fanbases think. I also am not saying Hurley is a bad person. He’s just childish.

I smell a subtle troll trying to tread on here lightly.
Yeah, he's just early in the life cycle. He will incrementally increase his rhetoric until he draws a mild rebuke, and then he will feign his innocence and play the victim before storming off an angry huff. It is the troll lifestyle

Sarcasm?

Lame are your excuses.

Life isn't a participation trophy contest and we all will face some life decisions that are bigger than winning a basketball game.
Some of you folks would cover for this guy if he stabbed a ref during the game.
The guy is a loose cannon that has hurt his team with his antics as much as he has helped the players he loves with his coaching.
Someday he may realize his mistakes, but UConn and the State of Connecticut are paying a ton of money and IMHO too much to be a sore loser and someone who desires the stage as his bully pulpit.
Does anyone here think after his tirades yesterday, the refs and the NCAA will stop looking at him with extra eyes just because UConn lost?
He needs a mentor, I have been saying this for years and if he has one, find someone else.

All coaches have mics and cameras on them. St Johns had some really bad calls go against them in their loss (not a reason for the loss) and we didn't see Pitino act like a child.

Dan Hurley did nicely with his encrypted digs at both Pitino and Creighton. Thats what he should be doing rather than the tireless swearing and name calling at the officials.

Champions act like champions. They are not entitled. Dan Hurley feels he and his team are entitled and in the real world it doesn't work that way.
Soccer refs in other countries actually do get stabbed, in fact one of them got beheaded.
