Is the debate over who the greatest coach in college basketball is?

Oh my goodness, who the heck came up with this list? My top 10.
Hurley
Oates
Drew
Few
Buzz Williams
Self
Chris Beard
Chris Collins
McDermott
Sean Miller

Scheyer does not belong on this list

I would take Hurley but there is still a very reasonable case to say Self. The crazy thing on this list is Pope, what has he done to warrant inclusion in the top 50 let alone the top 25? He seems like a nice enough guy but he had one real decent season at BYU. The KY colored glasses are strong on this list

I agree. I think Pope will probably do quite well there but he's in front of guys who have been successful for far longer and been to final fours.

.-.
Yes. The real question is who's number 2 cause it ain't Self.
Agreed. Also, Pitino has won how many National Titles and he is behind a couple of men who have won zero? This list is seriously flawed.

Buzz Williams above Self must be a joke

Oats should be # 2. The amazing thing is Oats was pretty much discovered by Dan Hurley who recommended him to his brother when he was at Buffalo. If I am remembering this story correctly.

After 10 or so names, it is pretty muddled.

Kelvin Sampson is the best coach in college basketball not to have a National Championship.

Shaheen Holloway is the best coach in college basketball that 90%+ of college basketball fans have never heard of.

Pope at 23 in pretty funny, I guess he would have to be top 25 just to get the Kentucky job & Nate Oats is not getting the recognition he deserves

Nah, I love Buzz. While at Va Tech he was what he would do if he was not a coach. His answer - work with special needs children. A subject that is very dear to me. He was also asked which arenas he like the best. His answer - the ones with multiple National Championship banners. My kind of coach. Self? Underachieves in my opinion with the recruits he gets.

Brad Underwood should be off this list. “If he blocks 100, he blocks 100” is the most insane strategy of all time.

Apologies. Didn’t see this point was made in a previous post.

What? Guy won a chip two years ago. 2 in his career. Who would you put over him? There’s Hurley and Self — and then a huge gap — and then everybody else

was going to say the same about #35
Shaka is probably higher than #25 but that could be my big east bias
Nice to see our friend Steve Pikiell on the list

That’s all great. Good for Buzz for supporting/working in that area. But, that doesn’t have anything to do with his coaching, and his coaching resume isn’t in the same stratosphere as Self’s.

I don't care what he's won, he's a cheater and that's all you need to know

I know but I love the guy and wanted to give him some props. Like I said I think Self underperforms with the talent he gets. I mean the guy is rather shady

No Kim English? Then what have I been reading on the Boneyard for the past year?

College Basketball Report is for the dumbest of the dumb. Great they put Hurley #1, that doesnt change that fact.

Hurley is in fact the best college hoops coach and 2nd place isnt close. The rug doctor? hahahahahahaha.

But no one should EVER give CBR ANY oxygen. They really are for the brain damaged.

Is there any doubt who the most recognized name in college basketball is anymore?

Jeopardy question: “Name the school whose coach turned down $70 million to remain as the men’s basketball coach”

whole lotta mediocrity in there.

Shaka criminally underrated

Going in to '24/'25, Hurley.

Long term, he'll have to do more.
