LOL nice one with the "medical professional" remark. The standard insult from someone in way over his head in a debate.

It's cool you think the best teams should make the playoffs, and those who think your comment is too simplistic should seek medical help.

Would you change the NFL playoffs too, so that any division winner under 0.500 is excluded? After all, such a team is clearly not one of the best teams.

You are entirely missing the reason the playoffs are expanding to 12 teams, and perhaps beyond. It is not because a four-team playoff will fail to include the "best team".

It is a money grab. They are taking advantage of the massive public interest in college fb to cash in.

An exclusionary playoff is antithetical to that. Once they make it a P2 playoff, the public is not going to maintain the level of interest they have now.

You believe this yourself--your own comment betrays it. Everything after the insult and the "best teams" cliche, basically.
The anger you foster is not healthy. Let’s stop the pretense. College football and college basketball are professional leagues. You go to games rooting for kids that would not be accepted into your school if they could not dribble a basketball or throw a football. Higher learning at its best. I think it would be great to expand the CFP field to 16 teams. I think there is probably not more than 16 teams that could win a national championship in football. I would be fine going to a computer selection process to select those 16 schools to remove bias made by selection committees. This whole thing started since I said Indiana is good but played a creampuff scheduled and was absolutely dominated by Ohio State. I just want to see competitive games and could care less rooting for any particular school.

Perhaps he should spend sometime in Orono, Maine. It's quite nice or so I've heard.

By the way the giants were 10-6 when they beat the undefeated Pats in the Super Bowl. According to you they should not had a chance to play in the playoffs since they were 10-6. No reason a 3 loss team could not win the whole thing in college football especially if they played an extremely hard schedule.

Currently I live in Bermuda so I could not take the winters. But Orono is no different than being in Storrs. Neither has much nightlife.

Have you ever lived in Storrs? How about Orono?

I had three siblings go to UConn. Visited them when they were going to school. Most college towns are dull. UConn no different from many land grant schools. I love big city atmosphere and have worked most of my life in cities London, NYC, Munich and Paris. Currently live in Bermuda but have a place in Miami to get my big city fix.

So no, you've never lived in Storrs. Have you ever lived in Orono?

So you can only experience a place you have lived? I have never lived in Hartford but went there on business numerous times. The last time is when my company purchased a company in Hartford and I had to go to Hartford one week a month for 18 months. I could tell from my visits that Hartford had no night life (ghost town) and was a commuter city.

I'm just trying to understand your basis for saying multiple threads that living in Orono is the same as living in Storrs. You've already indicated that you never lived in Storrs. But this is the second time that you wouldn't answer whether you have ever lived in. Orono. Have you?

No but visited friends that went to school up there.

Ah, I see. So you lived in neither place, but you visited in both places. What year were these visits?

Early 1990s. Has Storrs changed so much since then? The population excluding UConn is less than 20k today.

Got it. So your repeated comments that there's no difference between living in Orono and Storrs are based on a few visits, you had over 30 years ago. Probably not all that relevant to what the experience is for people actually living on those campuses over 30+ years later.

Yes, Storrs has changed substantially since the early 1990s.

Yes it is a vibrant town of 18k people. It is considered the Paris of Americas. I heard Mandarin Oriental hotel chain has changed their minds about making Miami their North American Flagship location for their hotel chain. Instead it will be Storrs CT. Just curious have you ever visited the U of Maine campus in Orono?

I have not, which is why I haven't made a definitive statement regarding the two. It seems like it would be a waste of everyone's time.

So, to sum up, you've never lived in either Storrs or Orono but you're quite sure that you can speak definitively what the experience is in those two places is today based upon some visits you said you had in the early 1990s. You are also entirely unaware that there have been changes to the Connecticut campus in Storrs in the last three decades. That's helpful context.

Please feel free to have the last word on your opinion, such as it is, between the two places.

Why. The best teams should be in the CFP. If not then everyone should play cream puff schedules like Indiana.
One of the many things that make the Big Dance awesome is that it is not the best 68 teams. It is a tournament which involves every team in the country. Every program has a chance to make it to the dance. All they have to do is win their conference tournament. More conferences are better, in my opinion. Spread the wealth and grow the product, not shrink it. Most people agree the cartel is ruining the sport for most fans. The CFP can expand and it should include every conference winner. Your Boise States and Armies would have a better chance of making it than your Oklahomas and Nebraskas.

I said the experience would be similar since both are land grant universities in the middle of nowhere. By the way you started this snide conversation thinking I lived in Orono. The comment that started this conversation I believe was me saying Maine hockey is the biggest sport on U of Maine campus relative to being basketball for UConn. Happy Thanksgiving.

Lol, I respectfully suggest that your ability to read my mind is probably about as accurate as your assessment of what it's like to live in on the two campuses. In actuality, I just doubted your opinion was particularly well informed, and, as it turned out, it was not.

Belated Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Kolumbo, you and I had a contentious exchange on the topic of private equity involvement in CFB; but here, it is like my own thoughts are going right through your keyboard to the forum.

Well said!

I'm having trouble keeping track of where exactly the goalposts are in your arguments. But you are giving some great insight into your own intellectual makeup.

When you repeatedly accuse someone of anger issues or mental health issues in the middle of a rational conversation (from my side at least)--that kind of passive-aggressive gaslighting reveals exactly who you are.

Do you treat your wife and family the same way? Yikes, good luck to them.

Anyway, on the topic at hand: it is perfectly fine for you to want to see a 16-team playoff with 15 P2 teams and one at-large charity case. You are not alone there; all the P2 fans want that too.

My only point is maybe that's not what is best for the sport. Many others here are making the same point.

The irony is--apart from the childish gaslighting and the repeated calls for a P2 playoff field--nearly every comment you make is in support of my point. Do you really not see that?
Yes pull out the family attack. That is always a way to win an argument. You would be an excellent negotiator in the finance world. So sure of yourself you would not even realize you are being taken to the cleaners.

I do not care if the best teams came out of G5, ACC or Big12. I just like watching high level football. In case you like to know I will be rooting for Georgia Tech tonight. I think NIL has actually now made it possible we just do not have the same 5 teams with a chance to win the CFP.

Very good, more insults and then a complete 180 from the comment where you called for more 3-loss P2 teams in the playoffs.

I think there is a chance you are not an actual person, but a poorly-coded AI bot. Each individual sentence makes sense in a way, but taken together across all your posts they are a self-contradictory mess.

I'm not even sure what you want for college sports any more. Very likely you do not know either.

Go ahead and have the last word--I will read it, for comedy sake, and then put you on the ignore list.
