Is Kyle Neptune cooked, after Villanova loss to Columbia?

He should have been cooked when they looked at his one year coaching at Fordham. He's not really good enough for Fordham. The went 25-8 after he left. Never let the outgoing coach pick the successor.

It doesn't sound like Jay Wright picked him.

As a Fordham alum that 16-16 season was a success lol and we were looking forward to what he could do with the program. He brought in quite a few of those guys that were part of the 25-8 season, looking back at in hindsight maybe they don't achieve that record with Neptune instead of Urgo but they did fall back down the cliff last season.

just now seeing this from a couple days ago but this is wild to tweet from the team's official twitter account

Who is this guy melton?
Guy Melton? I think he was a three star out of Montverde, but I could be wrong.

1. Fire Neptune
2. Convince Jay Wright to come back and coach for the remainder of the season
3. ???
4. Do a national coaching search at the end of the season
Why would Wright want to come back to coach that shat show?

Jay Wright was very impressed with Kyle Neptune's handling of adversity and recommended him to be the head coach at Villanova.
Wright's recommendation
: Wright, who retired after the 2021-22 season, said he was impressed with Neptune's handling of adversity and that Neptune's job was to instill Villanova culture

I heard it wasn't really Wright's decision, he was happy with Neptune staying at Fordham.
Not his decision, sure. But when a coach that brought you program to the very top strongly recommends a guy the President/AD can either go with it and not take much risk or go against it at his/her peril. Had Wright not pushed for him there's no chance he's who they hire.

exactly JW did not hire him but it was his recommendation. Neptune was interviewed 2 or 3 days after Wright resigned and hired the same day as his interview.

I heard he didn't push for him.

Anyone can write anything on the internet. Especially quotes from an anonymous source. Lol

I really truly think that Jay Wright tanked Nova on purpose pushing Neptune on them. He worked with him for 12 years. Famous micromanager of a program. Knew all of the ins and outs.

World class egomaniac. Routinely told former assistants who took head jobs at other schools that copying Villanova was not a recipe for success. Has no former successful assistants (for the most part). I think he tanked Nova on purpose to make himself look even better.

The Ivy's are tough at the beginning of the season. Usually seasoned teams who play a very good system.

In 2004 Yale almost beat one of our best teams ever in the season opener. We won by 10 points but after the game the Yale coach said the best team lost.

So I'm inclined to cut Neptune a little slack on this one.
I was at the Gampel game in 2018 (Jan 21 per Chatsmith) when Yale beat UConn. Hugely disappointing performance by the men’s team.

Friend of mine here in PA belongs to the same golf club as Jay Wright and spoke to him several months ago at an outing. He ain’t making a triumphant return…ever.

Who is this guy melton? Can he play?
I found these three 7-Eleven Slurpee cups from 1972. Maybe this offers a clue about Melton..
