To me this is a tough one..Which team do you dislike the most. Notre Dame or Tennessee ?

Hit me up.... The concession stand is open for this one.

This one’s easy. The Tennessee thing is a ghost from another era which no longer really prevails. Hating ND, and its self-righteous, sanctimonious fans is a worthy endeavor for a lifetime. I’m already upset that Clemson will take ‘em down before Alabama has a chance to do it! The only suspense lies in whether the fans blame the loss on the fact that a bunch of “thugs” were responsible, or, as is almost always the case with them, the refs dunnit!

I suspect that the answer to this question will greatly depend on the age of the respondent: both the chronological age, and the BY "age". For some of us, "the Tennessee thing" isn't a "ghost from another era". It's the same era, the era of UConn, from the early 90's until today. And, as much as we find ND everything that the rest of you do, we remember... we remember Pat's sanctimony (I know, she may have been ill), we remember the vicious smears from the fanbase, and we remember the complaints filed with the FBI ( yes, FBI!) about the conduct of UConn fans, and we remember the UT athletic office surreptitiously filing NCAA complaints via the SEC office, and, if memory serves, Vanderbilt. ND is arrogant, smug, guilty of violent play, denial, and a host of other obnoxious and offensive behaviors - but, sadly, they've got a ways to go to measure "up" to UT's level.

Thnk you Pinobear! My sentiments exactly.

Although I finished my studies at UConn in 1982, I started watching the women when Maya was a junior. Therefore, I missed the entire Tennessee rivalry.

In any case, I find the post here hilarious. Thank you all. (I do dislike ND, everything about them. Period.)

Boy oh boy, will the BY light up next year when we actually play Tennessee again. Can you believe it?

Please. Stop living in the past. Hate that Tennessee as much as you want. Hate that Tennessee more then notre dame or anyone else. But that Tennessee doesn't exist anymore. That Tennessee isn't showing up to play notre dame or uconn or anyone.

Yes I was here for the Tenn brougha and for ND . I am an equalating disliker.
while I would have liked to use hater, I thought the word was a little too strong.

Easy. I’d like the LV to lose every game. I’d like every team in every sport at ND to lose every game. Head to head, I’m with UT all the way.

This is easy. Notre Dame presents the real threat of beating UCONN. You must hate the team that denies UCONN of number 12. TENN is not threat. Why hate a flacid foe?

Some of us did live through the TN years. And: we will never forgot the entire ND team, sitting like stones, refusing to clap for Stewie when she won POY. Will never forget the poor sportmanship on full display that day. ND: hands down.

Actually, that urban myth was recently busted by our friend @Orangutan , who posted the video. Muffet and her husband withheld their applause, but most of the ND players didn't.

Did you read what I said? I want every ND team to lose every game including to Tennessee. Aside from women’s hoops, and maybe including women’s hoops except against UConn, Tennessee can go unbeaten in every sport and it’s fine. Notre Dame has an anwarranted sense of entitlement across the board.

Actually I did not read your post at all. I clicked on the wrong REPLY.

At this point in time, and I assume that is the parameter of the question. I still don't like whiners and Tennessee has not been good enough to whine. While I would like TN to lose every game, I would like ND to be slaughtered in every game. Blocking Breanna??? Are you crazy MM????

Outsiders take..but I'd imagine a lot of the Notre Dame dislike stems from feuds and personalities. The Notre Dame rivalry has been a lot more one sided than the Tennessee one. Notre Dame has its share of wins, but I dont think they've ever trounced the Huskies, it's always squeaker if they pull it off. I'm guessing too they've been a Vegas underdog in every game they've played against the Huskies since the mid-2000s. They're almost always 2nd to UCONN in any rankings or chatter. They're the closest peer to UCONN, but they have been a notch lower than the Huskies in results and reputation over the last decade.

The Tennessee rivalry had its share of off court drama, mostly stemming from the Maya Moore situation, but it was a much more balanced rivalry on the court. Women's basketball from 1995-2007 was Tennessee and Connecticut. During that 13 year stretch they equally dominated the sport, with 5 titles and 7 Final Fours for UCONN, 4 titles and 10 Final Fours for Tennessee. Both teams played games as the favorite and as the underdog. Both teams won as the favorite and as the underdog. Both teams had enormous passionate fan bases (larger than modern day UCONN or Notre Dame) with a healthy respect and dislike for the opposing team. Pat went into the locker room after her team got crushed by UCONN in 2002 and congratulated UCONN on how well they played. I dont think youd ever hear about Geno or Muffet doing that for each other's teams. After the Maya recruiting stuff, a lot of the respect/cordialness went out the window but you didnt see Pat or Geno get very petty unlike today with Muffet/Geno. I think social media plays a big part in that, but I think the dislike between Notre Dame and UCONN is more personal than basketball based than the dislike was between UCONN and Tennessee.

As always, your abilities to synthesize are outstanding, @bballnut90 , but I'm gonna nitpick one little statement:

After the Maya recruiting stuff, a lot of the respect/cordialness went out the window but you didnt see Pat or Geno get very petty unlike today with Muffet/Geno.

Unless I've missed something, the pettiness has been pretty one-sided from Muffet. I can't remember him ever acting toward her and ND the way she acts toward him and UConn.

I didn't follow during the Tennessee years. However my answer is still Tennessee. Having read a lot on that rivalry I just hate Pat and her team. They had the same full of themselves nature mixed with the Maya stuff and the way the world still sees Pat as a saint after all she did to us makes me want to throw up. The fact that her successor has held the same line all these years later infuriates me. ND is a great program I actually love to hate, them but have respect for their talent. I think for me it comes down to a bit more respect for ND because they can back up their cockiness where Tennessee has the cockiness without the skill which makes me angrier.

Man this is a hard one. I hate cop-outs saying it's a tie, and I salute the OP for asking us to force rank this one. I hate all things Notre Dame - all sports, starting with football, Rudy, Joe Theismann (the family pronounces it TEES-man - ND changed the pronunciation to rhyme with "Heisman" during his Heisman Trophy campaign), etc, etc, etc.

BUT, taking a step back, gotta admit the recent ND dust-up probably has me all riled up on ND short-term. When it really comes down to it, over the long haul, I can't let that overshadow my deep-down-to-the-marrow hatred of Tennessee, expressed much more eloquently here...
