Of the 4,381 active scholarship players in D1 basketball, 10 have played minutes in a national title game AND have a ring. Of the 10, 3 are from UConn. These 10 players are the ones that you want on your team come March, no matter how talented or untalented they are. Everyone knows that experience is a huge added benefit to your team’s arsenal for a success recipe.

UConn

Niels Giffey (24 minutes)

Shabazz Napier (27 minutes)

Tyler Olander (7 minutes)

UNLV

Roscoe Smith (22 minutes)

Kentucky- Believe it or not, there are no active players on Kentucky with title game experience. Players like Jarrod Polson have a ring, but never touched the floor.

Gonzaga

Transfer from Kentucky- Kyle Wiltjer (3 minutes)

Louisville

Russ Smith (32 minutes)

Luke Hancock (30 minutes)

Wayne Blackshear (19 minutes)

Montrezl Harrell (12 minutes)

Stephan Van Treese (3 minutes)

You're forgetting players on Kansas and Michigan, the runner ups the last two years.

I agree with you that they are important too, but i just narrowed it down to players from the title games who eventually went on to get a ring.

Just rings and minutes means Wiltjer, Olander, and van Treese are on the list. No perfect criteria :)
