then the conference must revisit the exit fee.

The exit fee will be reduced from $5 million, according to the by-law.

UConn might experience the perfect scenario of snagging $20 million from the conference, and hopefully shelling out only $2 or $3 to leave.

The new BE schools will oddly enough then reap the benefits of Notre Dame and Rutgers paying them cash for exiting.

I hope this works in Uconn's favor, because nothing else has. Hopefully we walk away with twenty to twenty five million and this is enough to hold us over until conference realignment shakes out.

If we are walking out of the Big East to another conference, the short term financial implications are close to irrelevant. Just get out.

The downside is that this also makes it easier for our conference mates to leave.

But, let's be honest. Short of someone physically holding a University President's family hostage there is nothing that will stop anyone from leaving this conference.

Perhaps the only benefit of conf X, is that everyone is going in with there eyes open. No C-7, no ND, no nostalgia of MSG games past to camoflauge the truth that anyone and everyone in conf X is angling for an upgrade or wish they could. There will be no exit fee, because one isn't necessary. No point in locking the door on a burnt out building.
