the article is primarily about the B12 staying at 9 teams, but the part that interested me was about 2/3rds of the way down where it says ESPN would be paying the Big12 the same amount even with fewer teams. does anyone know if that's the case with the BE contract? would we be able to keep and divvy up Cuse and Pitt's shares if we let them leave early?

That would br good in theory if there were such a clause. But the BE bb contract expires next year and it looks like both Pitt and Syracuse will be here at least for one more season. The footnall contract doesn't expire at the same time- basketball 2012-2013, football 2013-2014. Everything about the BE is screwed up.

EPSN made that agreement last year after Colorado and Nebraska left and there was a Texas A&M clause

That's why they are raping TAMU or Missouri for leaving. It's part of the negotations now.

It's why Missouri is fence sitting. Say they get paid $13 million from the B12 for 4 more seasons years under the current contracts then bumped to $20 mil as rumored in 2016-2017. The SEC pays $18 mil. Once the buyout exceeds $20 million paid upfront to the B12 things get dicey to earn $5 million more for 4 years.
