Good article on Stewart from Borges.

"We're trusting the process," Sherrill Jones said earlier in the week. "And when they help him progress and develop even more, I'm ready to see that take off."

"We probably all wish he was a little bit closer," Jamar added. "But it's going to be beneficial to him in the long run."

Nice article

The only thing I didn't like was Hurley saying "we're going to lose a lot from this year's team"

I mean, I know that already, but you don't have to remind me in December :)

Dynasty building is an ongoing and never ending process

I know, I was here for JC in the 90's, we went to the NIT like every fourth year (actually started with Perno, but no need to go there)

What do you presume next year looks like?

Right now i'm guessing something like this.

5 Samson Johnson
4 Alex Karaban
3 Isiah Abraham
2 Solomon Ball
1 Ahmad Nowell

Transfer portal 2 Guard??
Hassan Diarra
Jaylin Stewart
Jayden Ross
Youssouf Singare
Apostolos Roumoglou

...and maybe Hurley and crew will need to re-recruit a combo of Ross/Roumoglou

.-.
5 Johnson- Singare
4 Karaban- Stewart
3 Transfer- Abraham
2 Ball- Ross
1 Diarra- Nowell
We are losing even more next year than we did this year and with a much less heralded incoming freshman class. We will desperately need an elite wing in the portal to be our second best player after AK.

The bench is talented and has upside but it’ll be 2 freshmen and 3 sophs that barely played this year.

Transfer PG
Solo Ball
Transfer SF
Jaylin Stewart
Samson Johnson

Ahmad Nowell
Jayden Ross
Isaiah Abraham
Youssouf Singare

That’s actually more realistic, maybe throw in a reclassifying 5 star instead of one of the transfers

He deserves a lot of credit for the work he did on his body from high school to college - he looks great physically. I suspect Hurley and Co. will have to spend some time re-recruiting him this spring but I'm really excited about his potential.

Transfer PG
Solo Ball
Transfer SF
Jaylin Stewart
Samson Johnson

Ahmad Nowell
Jayden Ross
Isaiah Abraham
Youssouf Singare
Without any transfer speculation, this is what it would be. Maybe another veteran transfer for depth, and I know Diarra has expressed interest in returning for his 5th year.

Jaylin Stewart starts if he comes back next year is my guess. As will 5th year Diarra

I expect Karaban to come back so I would move Stewart to the 3.

If that’s how it is, it would come at the expense of Solo’s long term future.

With how he's played this season I'd definitely love to have Diarra back and coming off the bench next year. I could see it happening

Why would Alex's return be at the expense of Ball? Solo is going to be our starting 2. With all due respect your posts are mind boggling.

Wouldn’t Solo still be the SG then?

Transfer
Solo
Stewart
Karaban
Johnson

Transfer PG
Solo Ball
Transfer SF
Jaylin Stewart
Samson Johnson

Ahmad Nowell
Jayden Ross
Isaiah Abraham
Youssouf Singare
If Karaban leaves that's what I expect our starting 5 to look like but I think the odds are pretty good Alex and Diarra will be back. I expect Stewart to start whether Karaban is gone or returns.

Multiple transfers in and a reclass would make sense.

That’s not what I was saying. I meant Solo playing the 2 instead of PG. Reading it back I didn’t actually quote the thing I was responding to when I said it so yeah, it’s confusing.

Transfer
Solo
Stewart
Karaban
Johnson
Was saying Solo should play PG. We’re probably going to need a transfer guard one way or another.

Solo isn't going to be our point guard no matter how many times you say it.

Why is this so definitive? Has Dan said this?

Most commentators (even though they can be clueless a lot) see it the same way. I’m not sure why this board is so set on writing him off on a position that would be best for his future.

Is AK going to graduate early? I thought I remembered hearing he's a double major in computer science and engineering or something like that. Seems like the type of kid that is going to get his degree before leaving. I think this is year 3 academically for him, is that right?

I personally like the idea of Solo growing into a point/wing hybrid. I think Cam Spencer's play has opened the eyes of many Uconn fans on how valuable a utility guard can be, even at the sacrifice of defense.

Why do you think that one of Stewart or Ross wouldn't start over Abraham?

Solo is not a point guard, his handle and passing are not close and he’s never played that position

Just a hunch. If Karaban isn't back, then Stewart over Isiah at the 4. On video, Abraham looks to be more athletic than Ross and is obviously more physically developed. Compared to Stewart, He seems to be much faster and quicker. With better command of his dribble than Stewart, I pick Abraham at the 3.

It is not true that he’s never played the position.

On3 and Rivals both had him listed as a PG.

I'll enjoy this seaon's team and worry about next season, next season.

I would like to see Ross in action after Bilas was talking him up during the Gonzaga game.

To sustain our current level of excellence this is what Im hoping for:

Transfer PG- Nowell
Ball- Diarra
Transfer SF- Ross
Karaban- Stewart
Johnson- Singare

I would think we need another 4/5 next year. Someone physical with some beef. Probably a portal guy. Samson/Singare at the 5 feels a little light in the physical size/strength dept. Need someone to help on boards and play defense when we run into teams with big and strong centers.
